VINTON, Iowa (Oct. 21) – Quick changes in Modifieds? Bigger carburetors for Stock Cars? Floaters in Hobby Stocks? Nine inch rear ends for Southern SportMods?
No, no, no and no.
None of those rumors circulating about major changes in IMCA rules for the 2010 race season will become reality.
What drivers, manufacturers and retailers will see when rules are posted and printed next month are clarifications to rules in place this season.
“There are a lot of rumors going around now about what we will or will not do with our rules next season,” IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root said. “Those rumors, specifically about changes in vacuum, carburetor and rear end rules for Southern SportMods, need to be put to rest now.”
“The issues we will address are clarifications, rewording or rewriting rules to eliminate gray areas,” he continued. “We will try to keep everything to a minimum.”
Root, Competition Director Tom Gutowski, Executive Secretary Rick Haefner and division directors will meet to determine those clarifications before 2010 rules are posted on the IMCA website.
“The bulk of what we’ll do will focus on points, procedures and regional scheduling issues,” Root said.
The 2010 rules will be published in the November newsletter and distributed at trade shows late this year and early next.
