Comp Cams/RHS awards to six national IMCA Champions and engine builders of the year
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Oct. 29) – Six national champions and the manufacturers of engines that powered them to the top of 2009 IMCA point standings will receive $500 product certificates from Competition Cams and Racing Head Service.
Those drivers and the respective Engine Builders of the Year include: Dylan Smith, Modified, Eckley Racing Engines, Mead, Neb.; Kevin Blum, Late Model, Kuntz & Company, Arkadelphia, Ark; Neil Stevens, KSE Racing Products Sprint Car, Parker Performance, Newton, Iowa; Dustin Smith, Sunoco Stock Car, Kraemer Powerhouse, Alta, Iowa; Shannon Anderson, Sunoco Hobby Stock, Anderson Motorsports, Atlantic, Iowa; and Keith White, Southwest Racing Specialties Southern SportMod, Carroll's Engine & Machine, Amarillo, Texas,
IMCA introduced the Engine Builder of the Year award in 2008.
"Our partnership with the Comp Performance Group has really been an excellent way to give proper recognition to the engine builders of our national champions,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “The backbone of each racing program begins with the power plant and each of these engine builders are a worthy recipient of this award. Whether you build your own or have someone build it for you, it takes a dependable motor program to win a national championship and excel over the course of a long season."
Certificates will be presented to drivers during the national awards banquet next month in Lincoln, Neb., and mailed to the engine builders in the week to follow.
Jesse Sobbing and John McNeil used crate engines in winning Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Crate Model crowns and therefore were not eligible. The program did not include IMCA’s Mach-1 Sport Compact division.
