VINTON, Iowa (Nov. 3) – Champions and top rookies of the 2009 IMCA race season parlayed their on-track success into a treasure trove of post-season contingency awards.
More than $150,000 in cash, product and product certificate prizes were earned by drivers winning national, regional, state, local track and special series championships, as well as rookie of the year titles.
National IMCA Modified champion Dylan Smith’s post-season collection of prizes includes a complete rear end housing from Speedway Engineering and product certificates from Dynatech ($500), Kevko ($100) and Fragola and FK Bearings ($100 each).
IMCA Late Model king Kevin Blum receives a set of cylinder heads from Brodix and a clutchless bellhousing kit from Quarter Master, as well as product certificates from Jaz Products ($500), Genesis ($150), FK Bearings ($100) and KRC ($75).
Neil Stevens’ career second IMCA KSE Racing Products Sprint Car national title paid off with a power steering pump from KSE, a set of heads from RHS and product certificates from Jaz ($500), FK Bearings ($100) and KRC ($75).
Dustin Smith’s haul as IMCA Sunoco Stock Car national champion includes a set of cylinder heads from Enginequest, four wheels from Bassett and product certificates from Jaz ($500), Kevko ($150), Fragola ($100) and KRC ($75).
Shannon Anderson’s second consecutive IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock crown garnered product certificates from Jaz ($500), Kevko ($150), Fragola ($100) and KRC ($75).
Repeating Southwest Racing Specialties Southern SportMod champion Keith White and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod champion Jesse Sobbing both collected sets of pistons from Icon Forged Pistons four wheels from Bassett and a spruce-up kit from Performance Bodies, along with product certificates from Jaz ($500), Kevko ($150), Edel brock ($100), Fragola ($100) and KRC ($75).
Comp Cams and RHS will give $500 product certificates to Dylan Smith, Blum, Stevens, Dustin Smith, Anderson and White, and to their respective engine builders.
IMCA Crate Model champion John McNeil earned a bellhousing kit from Quarter Master and product certificates from Jaz ($500), FK Bearings ($100) and KRC ($75).
ButlerBuilt Regional Modified champions Dylan Smith, Justen Yeager, Keith White, Jeremy Mills and Kevan Cook each get a bellhousing kit from Quick Time, a spruce-up kit from Performance Bodies and a set of pistons from Icon Forged Pistons, along with product certificates from JAZ ($500), Holley ($350), Bert Transmission, Comp Cams, Engine Pro and Speedway Engineering ($300 each), Edelbrock ($100) and KRC ($75).
Dustin Smith, also the top driver in the Jet Racing Northern Region, and Rex Higgins, champion in the Stephenville Starter Southern Region for Stock Cars, both get a bellhousing kit from Quick Time and a nosepiece kit and headlight decals from Performance Bodies, along with product certificates from Comp Cams ($300), Engine Pro ($300), Edelbrock ($100) and Intercomp ($100).
Anderson, champion in the Jet Racing Northern Region for the Hobbies, and Stephenville Starter Southern Region king Charles Cosper, another successful title defender, both receive a nosepiece kit and headlight decals from Performance Bodies along with product certificates from Comp Cams and Engine Pro (both $300).
Smiley’s Racing Products will award $100 gift cards to Modified, Late Model, Sprint Car and Stock Car state champions, while top drivers from each state in the Northern and Southern SportMod, Hobby Stock, Sport Compact and Crate Model classes get $50 gift cards.
Stock Car state champions receive $150 product certificates from TCI.
Drivers winning Stock Car, Northern SportMod or Southern SportMod track titles earn product certificates from Bassett (buy one wheel and get the second at half price).
Hobby Stock and SportMod track champions competing with EQ cylinder heads receive $100 cash from Enginequest and a product certificate from Bassett (buy one wheel and the second at half price).
All track champions get a bag of rivets from aDP Rivet.
Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod track champions in Wisconsin purchasing decal packets from Woody’s Signs receive 50 custom T-shirts.
Deery Brothers Summer Series champion Jeff Aikey raced to a set of cylinder heads from Brodix, a clutchless bellhousing kit from Quarter Master, a carburetor spacer from Flow Design, a nosepiece kit and headlight decals from Performance Bodies, 10 sheets of aluminum from Petersen Aluminum, a free 2010 wrap from Speedway Graphics, and product certificates from BSB Manufacturing ($250 plus 30 percent off all purchases next season), and Howards Cams, Hyperco and R2C Performance ($100) each.
Jackpot Junction Tour champion Chris Graf yielded the deluxe package from Triple X Race Components and a product certificate from Howards Cams ($100).
Other recipients of Howards Cams certificates for the same amount were Cook, champion of the World Products Em pire State Series; Yeager, champion of the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Northern Tour; Paul Stone, champion of the Rotating Right Wild West Southern Tour; Jay Noteboom, champion of the Big Dog Dakota Classic Tour; Jeremy Frenier, champion of the Larry Shaw Racing Blood, Sweat and Tears Eastern Series; Matt Brack, champion of the Larry Shaw Racing BST Western Series; and Nathan Burke, top driver in the Dakota Track Side Classic Stock Car Tour.
Cook also received a set of cylinder heads from World Products, Yeager got a set of cylinder heads from Enginequest and Stone collected a generator from Rotating Right.
National Modified rookie of the year Gabe Tucker raked in a set of four wheels from Circle Wheels and a set of cylinder heads from World Products.
Ryan Giles netted a set of Brodix cylinder heads for his national Late Model rookie of the year efforts, plus a product certificate from Afco ($100).
Sprint Car rookie of the year Dustin Sargent scored a set of cylinder heads from World Products.
Phil Holtz paced all freshman drivers in the Stock Car class to earn a set of four wheels from Circle Wheels, a set of cylinder heads from World Products and a nosepiece with headlight decals from Performance Bodies.
Top Hobby rookie Dylan Book also earned a nosepiece with headlight decals from Performance Bodies.
Tucker, Giles, Holtz, Book, Sargent, Sobbing and Abbey all received product certificates from The Joie of Seating ($500).
Sobbing doubled as rookie of the year in the Northern SportMods while Steven Abbey paced first-year competitors in the Southern SportMods.

Both Book, ROY in the Jet Racing Northern Region, and Joe Williams, rookie of the year in the Stephenville Starter Southern Region, got Howards Cams product certificates ($100).
