LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 3) – The mailman had his bag full when he pulled in at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Monday.
The final batch of pre-entries for the Duel In The Desert at Las Vegas brought the number of IMCA Modifieds signed up for the Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 12-14 special to 212. That’s just nine cars less than the number in the pits at last year’s record-setting event.
The final event of the 2009 IMCA season pays $7,777 to win and a minimum of $500 to start.
“This is the highest paying event of the year for sanctioned Modifieds, it’s at a great facility and the location can’t be beat. I believe that’s the combination that’s attracting so many racers,” IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root said. “The format accommodates a large car count, we’ve made continual improvements to teching and officiating and the rules are enforced. The racing is very good and I anticipate that this event will only get bigger and better.”
Qualifying heats and a Top 20 Shootout for drivers from the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Northern Tour and Rotating Right Wild West Southern Tour precede features for Stock Cars and Modifieds.
