JACKSON, Minn. – A lot of money is up for grabs during the season-opening event at Jackson Motorplex later this month.

The recently renovated 4/10-mile oval hosts the IMCA Frostbuster on Saturday, April 28, during Bank Midwest Night presents the Double Down Showdown.

IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts will be in action. All IMCA divisions will be presented a unique opportunity as the winner’s payout in the main event will be doubled if 24 or more cars show up in a given class.

Without the bonus, Modifieds will race for $600 to win, Stock Cars and Northern SportMods for $500 to win, Hobby Stocks for $300 to win and Sport Compacts for $100 to win. Those figures will double if at least two dozen drivers compete, aking the Modified feature a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier.

Pits will open at 3 p.m. with the main gates opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled for 7 p.m. with racing to follow.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students ages 13 to 18. Children ages 12 and under get in free. Pit passes are $30. All IMCA classes will have a $10 draw fee.

If weather postpones the event, the make-up date is Saturday, May 5.

There will be a test and tune session for all classes on Friday, April 27, from 6-9 p.m.
