Olberding overcomes Septemberfest foes for first IMCA Modified win of 2018

BEATRICE, Neb. (Sept. 21-22) – The final night of Beatrice Speedway’s Septemberfest special was the setting for Kyle Olberding’s first IMCA Modified feature win of the season.

Olberding’s flag-to-flag, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying run to the $2,000 check­ers came ahead of a determined Shane Hiatt and helped right the 2018 ship some for the number 75 team.

“It worked out perfect for us,” said Olberding, who ran 16th in his Friday night qualifier but finished second in his heat and drew the outside pole for the main event on Saturday. “We had a good car, we got a good start from the original green and led every lap.”

Hiatt was following a higher line and made the finish uncomfortably close for Olberding. Justin Jurgens, Jordan Grabouski and Dan Nelson completed the top five.

“I concentrated on keeping everybody behind me and hitting my marks,” Olberding said after the 30-lapper. “I was glad I could get this win for my crew, especially after the year I’ve had.”

The Septemberfest payday was Olberding’s career best. He’d won a Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature at Beatrice’s October Fest six years ago.

Kyle Vanover topped both weekend IMCA Sunoco Stock Car features at Beatrice while Jesse VanLaningham and Kent Husted were IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock winners.

Lance Borgman and Lee Horky topped Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod mains while Mach-1 Sport Compact checkers flew for John Martinez and Cole Krichau.

Spring Nationals first for Grabouski with IMCA Modified, Stock Car sweep

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 20) – The leader in Spring Nationals career wins raced to a new Spring Nationals accomplishment Saturday at Beatrice Speedway. Jordan Grabouski won the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car for the first time at his hometown track’s season-opening special, then topped the IMCA Modified headliner for the record 11th occasion . “It was unbelievable. It just sets the tone for the whole year,” said Grabouski, a former national champion in both divisions and three-time defending king in the Jet Racing Central Region for Modifieds. “We’ve had an unbelievable start to the year already.”  Entries again topped 200 for the 28th annual event, shortened to a single day due to weather. Beatrice preps for July 29 Gage County Fair special

BEATRICE, Neb. – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and a berth on the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot at Beatrice Speedway’s Sunday, July 29 Gage County Fair special. Completing the card are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, all running for $500 to win, and Mach-1 Sport Compacts in a $250 to win feature. There is no entry fee for the draw/redraw show. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Nebraska State, but no local track points will be awarded. Spectator admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-11 and free for five and under. Pit passes are $30. Beatrice reschedules 30th annual Spring Nationals

BEATRICE, Neb. (Feb. 28, 2023) – Track officials at Beatrice Speedway looked at the extended weather forecast, understandably didn’t like anything about it and have announced the 30th annual Spring Nationals will be postponed a week to Friday and Saturday, March 17 and 18. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds are the headline division for the milestone event, racing for $2,500 to win, a minimum of $250 to start and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility each night.  IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts also race both nights. Drivers in all divisions can pre-register at beatricespeedway.com and on MyRacePass. An open practice session runs from 7-9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16.
