MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 18, 2024) – Saturday night, McMahon Salvage sponsored the Maquoketa Speedway racing program by adding bonus money to the Hobby Stock and Stock car main events and both of those feature events were won by members of the racing Miles family.

The leader of the pack, Jerry Miles collected the bonus money in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars while graduating senior Jordan Miles collected the bonus money by winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature.

Twenty IMCA Sunoco Late Models took the green and their 25 lapper went flag-to-flag with great action throughout the entire race.

Travis Denning took the lead at the dropping of the green and appeared to have the feature win within his grasp until late in the race  before the leaders encountered lapped traffic. Denning chose to take to the low line as he came on the slower traffic and that allowed Evan Miller to take to the top and drive around Denning.

While Denning was trapped down low, Justin Kay and Matt Ryan also were able to power by the 56D of Denning. At the checkers it was Miller scoring his first-ever Maquoketa Speedway win, taking the checkers ahead of Kay and Ryan.

The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds provided plenty of fireworks in their 20 lap feature.

Jeff Larson shot to the front from a fifth row start and was heading for the win before Charlie Mohr closed in. As the frontrunners were battling for the lead in the late stages of the race, slight contact was made sending the B1 into a spin.

Larson chose to head to the pit area and Mohr restarted from the tail. Chris Zogg proved to be the benefactor as he went on to lead the last few laps in picking up the win. Jason Schueller crossed under the checkers in second ahead of Mohr and Mike Garland.

Jerry Miles scored his first win of the season at Maquoketa by topping a 23-car field in the IMCA Stock Car feature.

Several drivers took their turn at the point as the multi-grooved track provided great racing. Miles ran the extreme high side of the track, took the lead late in the 15-lap main and went on to record the win and pick up bonus money from McMahon Salvage. John Oliver Jr. came from very deep in the starting field to take second ahead of last week’s winner Dustin Vis.

Twenty-five Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods took the green flag in their 15-lap feature and the racing was excellent.

Cody Clausen led early from his front row start before several of the division’s heavy hitters were able to make their way to the front. Austin Stamm added his name to the list of feature winners in 2024 by racing to the win ahead of Jarrett Franzen and Shane Paris.

Jordan Miles celebrated his high school graduation weekend by scoring a hard-fought win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.

Miles stated in victory lane, “ I watched Dad work the high line so I figured I would give it a shot and it worked for me also.” Miles did not qualify in his heat race, forcing him to start the main way back in the 13th position. Miles worked to the front taking the lead late in the race and getting to the checkers ahead of Daniel Wauters and August Bach.
