Shryock, Slagle, Fett, Nielsen score Hancock County wins          

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 8) – At halfway, Ricky Thornton Jr. had to be wondering if fuel issues were going to resurface and knock him out of the running. But at the end of Hancock County Speedway’s 25th annual IMT Transport Night of 1,000 Stars feature for IMCA Modifieds Thursday night, Thornton was standing in victory lane with another tall tro­phy and a check for $4,500. Thornton caught Benji LaCrosse for the front spot just five laps before the mandatory front stretch pit­stop on lap 25. By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (May 17, 2024) – Kelly Shryock drove his way to the front twice Friday night during the School’s Out for Summer event, sponsored by Trulson Auto Parts & Service at Hancock County Speedway. In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Shryock started sixth and ran down early leader Todd Stinehart, who stayed close through the midpoint of the race until Shryock was able to pull away over the late stages. Jeremy Mills got around Stinehart at the end to finish second. In the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Shryock wheeled the topside of the speedway from the 10th starting spot to capture the win. It wasn’t easy, though, as early leader Heath Tulp would not go away and raced to Shryock’s inside several times late but couldn’t return to the lead. BRITT, Iowa (July 24) – There’s something about Hancock County Speedway that brings out the best in Kyle Strickler. Strickler led every lap in winning Tuesday’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour feature for IMCA Modifieds, earning $2,000 along with a spot on the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Hunter Marriott followed his Monday night victory at Park Jefferson Speedway with a runner-up finish. He pressured Strickler throughout the first half of the race and was joined by Ryan Ruter in hot pursuit the last half. Strickler, however, was able to lengthen his lead on the rest of the field before taking the check­ers. The victory was Strickler’s Dirt Knights Tour career third and all have been at Britt. Strickler won the show that doubled as Night of 1,000 Stars in 2013 and the Salute to Veterans Night event in 2015.
