Ryland outruns Northern SportMod foes at Antioch

(April 10) – Two IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing divisions returned to Antioch Speedway on Saturday, marking the fourth IMCA Modified and fifth Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod events of 2021 at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds facility. The IMCA Modified main event was predominantly green to checkered. Only one caution took place and there was a total of three lead changes. Josh Combs beat the field to the line to be the leader of the opening circuit. Combs inhabited first place until lap three when Buddy Kniss got around him.    Kniss stayed in front much of the race. Martinez regular Nick DeCarlo tried to get around him but with no success. After the lone caution, Salinas veteran Bobby Hogge brought the Paul Gugliemoni-owned entry into the mix and went side-by-side with Kniss and eventually DeCarlo joined the party. (May 3, 2023) – Troy Morris III scored the win in the 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event, in Wednesday’s opening round of the Central California Clash at Antioch Speedway.  The win by Morris, already eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, paid $1,000. Jim Pettit II motored into the lead at the start ahead of Troy Foulger. The race had multiple cautions during the first 10 laps with Pettit leading Foulger up to that point. Morris moved up to battle Clark Guglielmoni for third on lap 10. A low pass in turn four on lap 13 put Morris into third and he soon joined the battle between Pettit and Foulger for first.  An outside pass on the back stretch on lap 18 moved Morris around both Pettit and Foulger with Foulger going low in turn four to take second. By Candice Martin  ANTIOCH, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2023) – Troy Foulger won the 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature Friday night at Antioch Speedway. The win in the Bowers Motorsports-owned entry clinched Foulger his third IMCA Modified track championship. This was also his fifth win of the season. Andrew Pearce bolted into the lead from the outside position ahead of Foulger and Anthony Slaney. Foulger pressured Pearce during the first half of the race with Slaney a solid third until he headed pit side on the 14th lap. Foulger made a move around Pearce on the backstretch on lap 17 to briefly gain the lead, but Pearce beat him back to the line to lead that lap.  However, Foulger made a high pass in turn two on the 18th lap to take command.
