COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 19, 2024) – Friday was 1 Off Fab night at the CJ Speedway located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds. The racing was excellent on a smooth slick race track which provided multiple groove racing all night.

The headliner of the night was the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature that provided close racing and a very close finish.

Kolton Osborn and his team make the long tow from Janesville every Friday to race and the youngster is yet to win his first feature at CJ but has been knocking on the door to victory lane many times.

Osborn shot to the front from his sixth position start, overtook early leader Barry Dugan and appeared to be on his way to his first CJ victory. Osborn led for several laps before the lead pack swelled to three with Osborn, Dakota Simmons and Jarrett Brown racing under the flag stand three-wide with three laps to go.

Simmons did all of his passing using the bottom of the track while Osborn sailed around the high side. Brown was using the middle to get to the front. Simmons was able to get out front as the field took the white flag and went on to score the win. Osborn ran a very close second ahead of Brown.

The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars saw one of Eastern Iowa’s hottest drivers, John Oliver Jr., score another feature win.

Oliver started back in the fifth row but was able to work the multiple-grooved track to the front securing the lead as the field took the halfway signal. Oliver went on to record the win ahead of Logan Anderson, who was driving Trenton Witt’s car. Chad Krogmeier had led several laps early before finishing third.

The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods saw Logan Anderson cross under the checkers in first place only to have the win taken away due his car not passing the post-race inspection. The rear deck height was too high, costing Anderson two positions. That elevated Dylan VanWyk to the winner’s circle.

Van Wyk got the win ahead of John Oliver Jr., with Anderson officially finishing third.

Shane Richardson scored the feature win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Richardson won a very spirited race ahead of fellow Wapello driver Luke Phillips. The two hot shoes raced wheel to wheel for the majority of the 12 lap main event. Preston McDonald followed the two front runners across the line in third.

The Louisa County Fair will get underway on Monday and the racing program will be held on Thursday, July 25. The Battle on the Levee will post a greatly expanded purse as a large field of drivers will be expected to compete for all the extra money. Hot laps will take to the track Thursday at 7 p.m. with racing to follow.
