Barglof, Fett, Shryock, Braaksma are Britt fair victors

BRITT, Iowa (July 23, 2024) – IMCA racing action kicked off the 2024 Hancock County Fair grandstand events with the Black Dirt Nationals. Races were sponsored by Java 18 and Schleusner Dirt Works and featured trophies besting six foot tall. 

Ethan Braaksma’s hot July continued with him dominating the Tuesday Friesen Performance IMCA Modified action. Winning the heat and main event, he collected $1,000 for his efforts.

Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, he bested a charging Cody Knecht, who came from the sixth starting spot to finish second. Kelly Shryock and Timothy Allerdings completed the top four. 

Though Colby Fett pressured for the lead early in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, the ninth starting Shryock ran away with the feature. Fett finished second in the race, ahead of Chad Palmer and Heath Tulp. 

Alec Fett gave his older brother all he wanted in the early stages of the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event. Alec faded before halfway and that opened the door for Colby to handily secure the win. Josh Appel was strong in second, finishing ahead of Nate Albrant and Alex Smith. 

Drew Barglof was relatively comfortable leading the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main until a caution forced a late-race restart. Barglof then held off Josh Sidles, who started 14th, when the race returned to green. Brandon Nielsen and Steve Wickman rounded out the top four. 

Racing returns to the Hancock County Speedway on Friday, Aug. 2. Hot laps are at 7 p.m.

After checking out tires at halfway, Hibdon checks out for IMCA Modified win at Hancock Co. Night of 10,000 Stars

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 7) – After checking out his tires, Kollin Hibdon checked out for a $4,000 Saturday afternoon payday at Hancock County Speedway.  Hibdon led all 40 laps of the Night of 10,000 Stars IMCA Modified main event at Britt in the finale for IMCA Speedweek.  “I got a good jump on the start and kept the car straight the first 20 laps to conserve my tires,” said Hibdon, who promptly checker out his Hoosiers during the mandatory pitstop at midway. “After looking at my tires I knew we’d be pretty good. I just made sure to keep the car straight and cruised.”  The young Nevada driver now owns seven Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying victories, six of them coming this season. Hobo 40 at Hancock County pays IMCA Stock Car winner $2,000

BRITT, Iowa – Forty laps will be the distance and $2,000 will be the top prize at Hancock County Speedway’s Friday, July 31 Hobo 40 special for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. That feature pays a minimum of $200 to start, has a $75 entry fee and highlights the county fair show. Also on the race night card are IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, KMJ Performance State and track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 5 p.m., the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. and racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and veterans, and free for kids ages 12 and under. IMCA Stock Cars chase $4,000 check at Hancock County’s Hobo 100

BRITT, Iowa – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars chase a $4,000 top check at Hancock County Speed­way’s Friday, July 26 Hobo 100.  Rounding out the card are IMCA Modifieds vying for $1,000 to win and a berth on the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, while Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods run for $750 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $200 to win.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and E3 Spark Plugs Iowa State points will be awarded at the draw/redraw show. Pit gates open at 5 p.m., the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. and racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. Specta­tor admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-12 and free for four and under.
