Connelly wires IMCA Northern SportMod main at Antioch

By Candice Martin ANTIOCH, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2023) – Kenny Shrader won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. This was his fourth win of the season and he earned the track championship over Jason Ryan Jr. by just two points.  Shrader bolted into the immediate lead ahead of Ryan and Mark Garner. The race ran 13 laps before a yellow flag slowed the action. Shrader continued to lead the restart ahead of Ryan and Tommy Fraser.  After another yellow flag a lap later, Shrader resumed command. Ryan gave it everything he had but Shrader prevailed for the  championship-clinching victory. Fraser settled for third ahead of Garner and Dylan Connelly. During intermission, past promoter Brynda Bockover, past sportsman racer Gene Dothage, Mike Conley Sr. and Wingless Spec Sprint founder Don O’Keefe Jr were inducted into the Hall of Fame.

(April 29, 2023) – Defending track champion Nick DeCarlo kicked off the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified season with the 20-lap main event win Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. Troy Foulger set the early pace ahead of Andrew Pearce. However, Buddy Kniss and Pearce got together with Pearce stalling on the back stretch for a lap four yellow. DeCarlo moved into second behind Foulger on the restart and Kniss brought out a yellow flag a lap later.  On this restart, DeCarlo motored ahead of Foulger for the lead. As they worked the 15th lap, Foulger took a wild ride on two wheels in turn one but somehow managed to bring it back down. This allowed DeCarlo to build a more than straightaway advantage by the time the checkered flag flew.  Foulger settled for second ahead of Bobby Motts Jr. and Danny Malfatti. (May 3, 2023) – Troy Morris III scored the win in the 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event, in Wednesday’s opening round of the Central California Clash at Antioch Speedway.  The win by Morris, already eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, paid $1,000. Jim Pettit II motored into the lead at the start ahead of Troy Foulger. The race had multiple cautions during the first 10 laps with Pettit leading Foulger up to that point. Morris moved up to battle Clark Guglielmoni for third on lap 10. A low pass in turn four on lap 13 put Morris into third and he soon joined the battle between Pettit and Foulger for first.  An outside pass on the back stretch on lap 18 moved Morris around both Pettit and Foulger with Foulger going low in turn four to take second.
