NORFOLK, Neb. (Aug. 3, 2024) – Competition during Saturday night’s program at Off Road Speedway included battles not only for the lead, but also for positions among the top five.

As a result, collisions and cautions, and even a pair of roll-overs, created a busy night for the track’s wrecker service as damaged cars were escorted to the pit area.

Jordan Uehling, who had led all of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature’s prior 14 laps, spun out after making contact with the rear of Gage Koch’s car as the two exited turn four, followed closely by cars driven by Nate Buck and Jason Wilkinson.

Video of the race convinced race officials that Koch had attempted a slide job as he entered turn four and, as his car skidded up the track impeded Uehling, who could not avoid contact which caused the spin-out.

The ruling determined Uehling as the feature winner and Koch, who had crossed the finish line first, was moved back one position to second.

Meanwhile, Buck and Wilkinson were awarded third- and fourth-place, respectively, as part of the same ruling.

Similarly, in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, restarts after five cautions kept cars in contention throughout the 18-lapper. The close quarters racing may have contributed to the contact that sent six of the original 16 cars in the starting field from the track.

Cameron Wilkinson notched his fifth win of the season at Off Road.

Wilkinson didn’t obtain the lead until just five laps remained but once in front sped away from the pack as Tanner Pettitt, Chuck Sands, and Eric Haase battled for second behind him.

Ultimately, Pettitt secured second place while Sands held on to take third.

The season-long points battle between Anthony Roth and Cory Dumpert continues in the IMCA Sunoco Late Models.

This time out, Roth took over the race lead following a caution with 20 laps left and pulled away with Chase Osborne, Dumpert and Beau Johnson fighting for second place behind him.

Finally, with six laps remaining, Dumpert was able to move into second after passing Osborne on the inside as the cars departed turn two.

Three laps later, as Dumpert pulled away to clinch second place, Johnson also was able to squeeze past Osborne to finish third.

Cameron Meyer added to his win total with his fifth local Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod victory of 2024 at Norfolk.

Meyer moved into the lead quickly, needing just three laps to get to the front after consecutive cautions early in the race, with James Roebuck in pursuit but unable to mount a threat before settling for second place ahead of Kyle Wilkinson.

On Aug. 10 as part of the annual Bob Haase Memorial special event, Off Road Speedway will feature the Malvern Bank Super Late Models along with a regular night of IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing points competition before the night concludes with a fireworks show.
