Murty tops Bald Tire Bash, Snyder gets first win at The Bullring

VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 11, 2024) – Dallon Murty was the $2,000 winner in the Bald Tire Bash Sunday night at Benton County Speedway.

The event, which required a maximum tire tread depth of 1/8” in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division, featured a 40-lap feature that Murty dominated once he got out front.

Kyle Olson was the early leader in the Christie Door Company main event. He was pressured by Kaden Reynolds and Damon Murty while Dallon Murty was making his way through traffic from the fifth row.

A terrific battle among the front-runners ensued before Dallon Murty made his way to the front around midway. He then built a lead of over four seconds while his pursuers jockeyed for position behind him.

Despite lapped traffic slowing his progress late, Murty raced to the convincing win ahead of Reynolds. Buck Schafroth, who started 16th, ran third ahead of Damon Murty.

Jacob Snyder’s weekly improvement in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds paid off Sunday night. He topped the Wright Way Trailers 20-lapper to earn the first win of his career.

Snyder assumed command at the drop of the green and built a sizable lead while Mark Schulte gave chase and Troy Cordes worked through traffic from the fifth row.

A pair of restarts slowed action, which allowed his nearest pursuers a chance to unseat Snyder, however he maintained the point to drive to the milestone win. Cordes, Schulte and Dallon Murty completed the top four.

Brad Graham was another first-time winner in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by iHeart Radio.

Graham raced into the lead from the third row and went to work on the top side of the speedway while Joren Fisher worked into contention from a fourth row start.

The lead pair traded slide jobs and the top spot a handful of times before Graham settled in en route to victory. Fisher, Justin Wacha and Kale Hemsley rounded out the top four.

Brayton Carter dominated early and then held on late to score his first win of the season in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods.

After rocketing into the lead at the drop of the green, Carter withstood pressure from Brett Thomas following a late restart to secure the win. Thomas, Josh Banes and Brady Hilmer completed the top four.

Following an early caution that left him at the back of the pack for a restart, Lukas Rick powered his way through the pack to take his fourth win of the year in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. Cristian Grady, Nolan Tuttle and Nathan Chandler chased Rick to the checkers.

Robbie Morrison raced the low line into the lead and to his first win of the year in the INEX Legends presented by Legends.Direct. Griffin McGrath raced from the fourth row to runner-up honors ahead of Colton Utley and Cohen Henze.
