Double Down Prelude leads into IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 16, 2024) – As the name of the event would suggest, double features are on the schedule for any division with more than 100 cars competing each night of the Wild Rose Casino Double Down Prelude Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at Boone Speedway.

Both Friesen Performance IMCA Modified features will pay $1,500 to win and both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car features $1,000 to win on Saturday; if not already eligible, winners can qualify for their respective All-Star Invitationals later in the week.

$250 to win features for Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts will also be held on Saturday, $750 to win features for Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and $400 to win features for IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks on Sunday if their entry numbers top 100.

“A record 664 cars in those five divisions competed, making last year’s Prelude the second biggest dirt track event of 2024,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “It also gives drivers the invaluable opportunity to race at Boone right before the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.”

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and state points will be awarded each night.

“Drivers must be pre-registered for Super Nationals to compete in the Double Down Prelude, and all drivers racing at Boone that week will be allowed to hot lap both Saturday and Sunday nights,” Root said. “All Double Down features will be started double file. The only three-wide starts that week in Boone will be in the Super Nationals main events.”

Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites run their complete Super Nationals program during the Prelude with heats on Saturday and last chance races, the race of champions and $2,000 to win main event on Sunday.

Pit gates at Iowa’s Action Track open at 11 a.m. both days. The grandstand opens at 1 p.m., hot laps are at 1:30 p.m. and racing is at 3 p.m. Pit passes are $35. Spectator admission is $20 for adults and $10 for students ages 6-17.

IMCA.TV broadcasts both days of the 10th annual Double Down Prelude as well as the entire week of the Sept. 2-7 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 19, 2024) – It was the Season Championship Saturday night at Boone Speedway, ending the 2024 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season at Iowa’s Action Track. Feature racing saw the top six in points locked in for the night and inverted for their start. The rest of the main event lineups were determined through heat races. Each division was brought to the frontstretch prior to their feature event, with out of car introductions. Each division had five laps added to their features. The Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite 20-lap feature was up first. Mother Nature doesn’t stop season championship night at Boone 

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 20, 2022) – It was season championships presented by Casey’s at the Boone Speedway Saturday night. Mother Nature tried her best to spoil the evening’s festivities but she didn’t succeed.  The great track prep workers rolled it back in and racing went on as planned, although the green flag dropped an hour and a half later than scheduled. With the time factor taken into consideration, the heats were dropped, and “B” features were run to determine final qualifiers for the features that had the top 20 in points locked in. The IMCA STARS Mod Lites ran their 20-lap feature first. Joel Huggins grabbed the immediate lead from his outside front row starting spot and never looked back.  He won going away at the checkers.  Bryan Zehm finished a distant second and Randy Bryan was third. This was Huggins’ fourth feature win of the year and he is the unofficial 2022 track champion. Super Nationals deadline for early registration now Aug. 29

BOONE, Iowa – Drivers planning to compete at the 37th annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s have an additional six days to do so at the current pre-registration rates.  More than 600 drivers have already completed the online registration process for the Sept. 2-7 Super Nationals and those that do so by noon CST Thursday, Aug. 29 pay entry fees now in place … $40 for Modi­fieds, $25 for Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods, and $15 for Sport Compacts.  Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod drivers are also required to pre-regis­ter to reserve pit stalls and to compete in the Aug. 31 Prelude at Boone Speedway.  The form for pre-registration can be found at www.imca.com and www.raceboone.com under the Super Nationals menu. Drivers who do not already have a MyRacePass account can create one when they go to that link.  Pit stall application links are on Super Nationals menus on both IMCA and Boone Speedway web­sites as well.  Late Models following the Deery Brothers Summer Series will pay $50 entry fees regardless of whether [Read More]
