ANTIOCH, Calif (Apr. 5, 2025) — After making two big passes around early leader Matt Kampfraat and Troy Foulger, Bobby Hogge IV of Salinas won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Antioch Speedway. The win for the two-time track champion was the 70th of his career at the track as he sits atop the division’s all-time win list. It came at the track’s 65th championship season opener.
Kampfraat started on the outside front row and bolted into the lead at the green flag ahead of Foulger and Hogge. A yellow flag was waved for the second time on lap 5 when John Pierce of San Jose spun in turn three. On the restart, Hogge made a strong move on the inside in turn two to take second from Foulger and made a low pass on Kampfraat exiting the fourth turn to have the lead by the end of the lap. Foulger quickly slipped past Kampfraat for second, followed by reigning California State champion Jacob Mallet Jr. The race had two late yellow flags in the last three laps. However, Hogge didn’t let it stop him as he bolted ahead on the last restart on lap 20 and won his first Shaw Race Cars Western Region feature ahead of Foulger and Mallet.
Holding off the pressure of two-time reigning track champion Kenny Shrader, Turlock’s Tanner Thomas won the 20-lap Karl Chevrolet IMCA SportMod main event. It is the first win of the year for the second-generation driver.
Thomas took the early lead ahead of Shrader and Emali Van Hoff. Kelly Campanile and Jeff Bentancourt tangled in turn two for a lap 3 yellow flag. On the restart, Van Hoff made an outside pass in turn two to take the lead with Thomas settling into second ahead of Shrader.
On a lap 7 restart, Van Hoff had a big push exiting turn four, allowing Thomas to slip by. During the second half of the race, Shrader made his presence known behind Thomas. However, Thomas kept his cool under pressure and brought it home to a satisfying win. Jason Ryan Jr. settled for third.

Double duty driver Troy Foulger turned in a dominant performance in winning the 15-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car Main Event. Foulger is the 2023 champion, and this was his 21st win in this division.
Foulger drew the pole position for the feature and took the lead at the start. As Foulger pulled away from the pack, Fred Ryland made an outside pass in turn four of the sixth lap to take second from Jason Robles. During the final five laps, Foulger caught slower traffic and saw his straightaway advantage over Ryland cut in half. However, Foulger would pick up the victory, his first in the EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region, ahead of Ryland and Robles.
