ELM MOTT, Texas (Apr. 11, 2025) – Waxahachie’s Dylan Moss raced to his first career Sunoco IMCA Stock Car victory Friday night at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region competition at the 1/4-mile oval.

Five-time Heart O’ Texas titleholder Jason Batt jumped to the lead at the start of the 20-lap main event and appeared poised to pick up another win.

Moss kept Batt within striking distance, stalking the leader for several laps while defending HOT champion Paul White fended off challenges from 2022 track titlist Dustin Mooney and three-time EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region kingpin Westin Abbey.

Batt encountered heavy traffic with six laps remaining, and on lap 15, was collected by a lapped car, bringing out a caution and ending his tenure at the front.

That handed the lead to Moss, who capitalized on the opportunity with a flawless restart. White claimed second, and Mooney secured third after a hard-fought battle with Abbey.

Geurin Tames SportMod Field

Two-time and reigning Heart O’ Texas track champion Brandon Geurin shook off early season adversity to capture the $850 top prize in the 20-lap Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMod feature.

Geurin, from Robinson, powered to the lead on the opening lap by ripping the top side and was strong on each restart following a string of early cautions.

Duane Biddle held second early before Damon Hammond, the 2020 Texas State titlist and defending Stock Car standout at Kennedale Speedway Park, advanced into the runner-up spot on a restart. A lap 8 yellow erased Geurin’s sizable advantage, but he was undeterred.

Hammond’s spin while battling for second brought out another caution on lap 13, opening the door for ninth-starting Camo Gaston to move into second. Despite the pressure, Geurin held firm and pulled away over the final circuits to secure his second win of the season and first at this year at Heart O’ Texas after a rocky start that included engine trouble and bad luck.

The 20-year-old Gaston finished a strong second, while 2019 Lady Eagle honoree and two-time Texas State champ Taylor Florio completed the podium in third.
