HARLAN, Iowa (Apr. 12, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Late Models were on tap at Shelby County Speedway’s Igloo 25 with a $1,000-to-win main event, and it was 20-year-old Jarrett Getzschman who made headlines at the drop of the checkered flag.
The Council Bluffs racer took full advantage of a front row starting spot and looked composed throughout the feature. After grabbing the lead near the halfway point, Getzschman held off a charging field of veterans to score his first-ever IMCA Late Model victory.
Brett Hopp made a last-lap bid but had to settle for second, while Nebraskan Kale Kosiski rounded out the podium in third.
Greenwood Leads Every Lap for Sprint Car Score
Jake Greenwood dominated the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car main, leading every lap of the $1,000-to-win affair despite several stoppages—including a couple of red flags for flips.
The 26-year-old from Woodward never wavered, even with South Dakota’s Less Goos Jr. charging from 10th to second late in the contest. It was Greenwood’s first win of the 2025 season. Trevor Smith claimed third at the checkers.
Albertsen Charges to Victory, Eligible to Qualify for B&B Stock Car Invitational
In the $1,000-to-win Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature—a qualifier for the 2025 B&B Racing Chassis Invitational at the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s—Audubon’s Mike Albertsen put on a show.
Albertsen rolled off from row five and steadily climbed through the field before taking the lead on lap 5. He held off Braden Richards over the final laps to record his third win of the season—and his first in EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region action.
Tom Nelson Jr. finished third behind Richards. With the victory, Albertsen is now eligible to qualify for the prestigious B&B Racing Chassis Invitational at Boone.
Newsom Goes Wire-to-Wire in SportMod Main
Sioux City’s Jake Newsom left no doubt in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature. He took the lead at the drop of the green and never gave it up over the 20-lap distance to win his first race of 2025.
Hayden Hillgartner closed in a couple of times, but Newsom kept his mount ahead and collected his first win of the season. Corey Madden completed the top three.
Ullrich Uses Mid-Race Move for Hobby Stock Win
Dayton Ullrich made a slick move on lap 6 to take the lead in the 15-lap Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature, and from there he held on through a late caution to secure the win.
The Kiron native had to fend off a fierce charge from Andrew Burg in the final circuits. Ullrich’s win marked his first of the year in B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region competition.
Andrew and Keith Burg completed the podium in second and third, respectively.
Reed Rallies Late for Sport Compact Victory
The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts capped off the evening with a high-energy feature. Gavin Miller led early, but Missouri Valley’s Trent Reed surged into the lead on lap 8 after starting sixth.
Reed was pressured all the way to the checkers by hard-charging Shannon Mahlberg, but stayed strong to pick up his first win of the 2025 campaign.
Mahlberg came home second, with Miller in third.
