Glover Scores First Davenport Win

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Apr. 18, 2025) —  Curtis Glover of Knoxville came away with the win in the Sunoco IMCA Late Model feature in exciting style. The 25-lap main event started with Mitch Morris jumping out to the early lead. On lap 16, a bobble by Morris would drop him back to third, behind Glover and Matt Ryan.

The top three would finish in that order. It is Glover’s first victory at Davenport. Ryan had to settle for second after starting in the eighth position. Morris held on for third.

Spencer Diercks dominated the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. Diercks started on the outside pole and led all 20 laps of the race that went caution free, his first triumph this year in the Razor Chassis North Central Region for the hometown pilot. When the checkers flew, Spencer had a three and a half second lead on second place Ben Chapman.

Chapman had started tenth and had moved up to fourth by lap 6. Eric Barnes was third.
 
Tony Olson made it back-to-back victories in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA SportMod class. Olson started in the fifth row but was up battling with the leaders by lap 8. Tony was leading at the white flag, but the yellow came out setting up a green-white-checkered finish. Olson got a good restart and finished in victory lane, his third overall SportMod win of the campaign.

Kyle Hoffman was in the top three the entire race before finishing second. Third place went to Scott Walker.
 
The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock main was an action-filled race. So much so, the action didn’t stop at the checkered flag. When the shouting and shoving ended, Matt Bennett of Schullsburg, Wisconsin was in the winner’s circle. It is Bennett’s first victory of the year in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Daniel Wauters scored a second-place finish with Randy LaMar third.
 
The Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites made their first appearance of the year at Davenport. Jon Padilla, Jason Masengarb, and Josh May were locked in a fierce dogfight for the top spot. The win went to Padilla once he secured the top position, his first of 2025.  Masengarb fought off May to claim the runner-up spot.

Next IMCA Sunoco bonuses awarded at Davenport, Maquoketa

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Aug. 9, 2023) – Two more Sunoco Race Fuels bonuses are at stake this weekend, with IMCA Late Model drivers racing for extra money on Aug. 11 at Davenport Speedway and on Aug. 12 at Maquoketa Speedway. Drivers can receive the bonus from their division title sponsor one time in a season so the $250 would be given to the top finishing non-winning driver either night, if the winner has already earned the bonus at another track. Friday’s show at Davenport also features Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds running for $1,000 to win their Ronnie Weedon Memorial main event, with IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods completing the sanctioned portion of the program. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. and racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps. Pit passes are $30 for adults and $15 for kids. Kay rallies for Davenport Modified win 

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 4) – Justin Kay raced from the back of the field to the checkers Friday at Davenport Speedway. Six  Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modifieds, one of them six driven by Kay, were involved in a first-lap inci­dent. Kay restarted at the tail of the field but several cautions later, took the lead after a lap 12 re­start. Kay led the remainder of the race to take victory. Kurt Kile worked his way to a second place finish. The Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMods saw a number of early yellows, however there would be no pass for the lead. Keith Blum started on the front row and survived all the restarts to score the victory. Jared Waterman finished second.

Three get first IMCA wins of season at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 1) – The Davenport Speedway kicked off the month of June in style Friday with three IMCA drivers collecting their first local feature wins of the season. In Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model action, Chuck Hanna stole the show. Hanna easily won his heat race and then dominated the feature, leading 23 of the 25 laps. Hanna took the lead from Joe Ross on lap three and never looked back. Matt Ryan moved up through the field to record a second place finish. Joe Ross, Andy Nezworski and Rob Toland, com­pleted the top five. The Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modified feature had a similar story. A lap six restart gave Eric Barnes the opportunity to pass Craig Crawford for the lead. Barnes led the rest of the way. Bryce Garnhart came from mid-pack to finish second, while Chris Zogg went from deep in the field to take third. Craig Crawford held on to fourth with Bruce Hanford completing the top five.
