Nearly perfect, Peeler paces Crist Memorial

OSBORN, Mo. (July 27) – Twenty-two near-perfect laps after taking the initial green flag, Blake Peeler was celebrating a $1,262 payday and the highlight of his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car career.

Peeler led every circuit of US 36 Raceway’s Joe Crist Memorial Friday night, taking the big win in front of a packed grandstand at Osborn.

Peeler took command from the start of the second annual event after wife Nellie drew the two pill for him. A couple cautions kept him out of lapped traffic and Peeler put some distance on the rest of the field following the final restart with four laps left.

“I’ve won championship night and mid-season championship night features before but this is the absolute highlight of my career,” he said. “I’m good friends with the (Crist) family so winning this race means a lot to me.”

Brad Whitney was second, a couple car lengths back, and hard charger Mich Ross was third. Bil­lie Hoover and Brian LaBonte completed the top five.

“I knew Brad would race me clean,” said Peeler. “As long as I didn’t make any mistakes, I’d be OK.”

Other winners included Chad Clancy in the IMCA Modifieds, Matt Richards in the IMCA Rac­eSaver Sprint Cars, and Jeremy Pittsenbarger in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods.

Rain forces cancellation of Championship Night at US 36 Raceway

OSBORN, Mo. – Due to overnight thunderstorms and more forecasted rain later tonight, US 36 Raceway officials have decided to cancel racing for Aug. 16.  This will conclude the championship chase for the season as US 36 will focus on the remaining specials scheduled for 2019. US 36 Raceway has two big post-season events planned as the Sprint Series of Nebraska joins the Saturday Sep. 28 show. Then on Oct. 9-12, it is the inaugural IMCA Missouri Nationals. Details are being finalized for the two events and more information will be released soon.

Sobbing, Drueke, Baumli, Stallbaumer win U.S. 36 Raceway openers

(May 8) – After a long wait for racing to return to the high banks of U.S. 36 Raceway, more than 100 IMCA entries hit the track on opening night Friday, May 8.  In the IMCA Modifieds, Kelsie Foley, out of Tucson, Ariz., led the first half of the feature. Jesse Sobbing lurked behind as he methodically worked his way through the field. Using the high line, Sobbing worked around Foley and led the remaining laps to win the opening Modified race of 2020. Chad Andersen charged from a ‘B’ feature and 15th place starting position to finish second, with Foley third.  Tyler Drueke dominated the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature, leading every lap and cruising to West­fall GMC Victory Lane. Stuart Snyder finished second, with Cincinnati, Ohio driver Saben Bibent in the third spot.  J.J. Baumli made quick work of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field, jumping to the early lead out of the fourth starting position. Budweiser Shootout Friday at U.S. 36

OSBORN, Mo. – This Friday, June 5, is the Budweiser Shootout at U.S. 36 Raceway. The Sprint Series of Nebraska headlines the event. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are also racing.  The Sprint Series of Nebraska pays $700 to win and $250 to start. IMCA RaceSaver Sprints have heat race bonuses as well as $75 goes to each heat race winner, $50 to second and $25 to third.  Pit gates open at 4 p.m. The grandstand opens at 6 p.m., with hot laps at 7:30 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m. Tickets for the event are $20 for general admission, $18 for senior and military and chil­dren 12 and younger are free.
