GRT’s Joe Garrison passes away

GREENBRIER, Ark. – Joe Garrison of GRT Race Cars died Wednesday evening, May 1 after a battle with cancer. 

He was 60. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 6 at Crosspoint Baptist Church in Greenbrier with funeral services at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Thorn Cemetery. 

Survivors include his wife Katie, now being treated for a brain tumor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., daughters Randa Jo (Litton) and Jolie, and two grandchildren.

Garrison and his brother Mike founded the chassis building business in a two-car garage in the early 1980s. The company has enjoyed considerable success in both Late Model and Modified endeavors 

GRT, located in Greenbrier, Ark., is part of IMCA’s Manufacturer’s Cup program and is the reigning Central region cup winner. 

 “Joe is in the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame and was well-respected in the Modified industry as well,” said IMCA President Brett Root. “We extend our sympathy to his family and many friends.”
