Hancock County SportMod Nationals win is Anderson’s for third time

BRITT, Iowa (May 13, 2024) – Eddyville’s Logan Anderson has been to Hancock County Speedway in Britt exactly three times, each during the tracks annual Gold-Eagle Cooperative IMCA Spring Fling SportMod Nationals.

On Monday night, he ran down leader Colby Fett in the closing laps to score his third Spring Fling Nationals victory in as many tries. 

Jared Boumeester led the first few circuits of the $2,000 to win main event before Justin Klynsma and Jake Sachau took over first and second, respectively.

Contact between the two resulted in a caution with both drivers retiring from the event. In the late stages Colby Fett built a sizable lead before Anderson ran him down for the win. Alec Fett finished third, Cam Reimers raced from 12th to fourth and Matt Looft completed the top five. 

In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Drew Janssen was in control until his engine expired and the resulting oil on the track necessitated a caution.

When the race resumed, Kyle Heckman was the leader and he survived a couple of cautions to best a great battle between Jeremy Mills, Tim Ward, and Kelly Shryock, who completed the top four. The $1,000 checkers made Heckman eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.

Troy Swearingen got a fast start to his 33rd year in racing Monday. The long-time IMCA Sunoco Stock Car competitor was fast all night and held off Heath Tulp, Aaron Johnson and Dylan Thornton to take the $750 win and become B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible.

Brandon Nielsen backed up his season-opening win at Britt with another IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock victory, winning this time over Drew Barglof, Eric Knutson and Chris Krug.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly racing action returns to Hancock County Speedway this Friday, May 17 with hot laps starting at 7 p.m.

Hancock County’s Hobo 100 has $4,000 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car top prize 

BRITT, Iowa – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars get top billing at Hancock County Speedway’s Friday, July 27 Hobo 100, racing for a top prize of $4,000. Rounding out the card are IMCA Modifieds vying for $2,000 to win and a berth on the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, while Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods run for $1,000 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $200 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Iowa State, but no local track points will be awarded at the draw/redraw show. Marriott shines at Hancock County’s Night of 1,000 Stars

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 9) – Hunter Marriott starred on a different night Thursday at Hancock County Speedway. Marriott battled Cayden Carter and Kyle Strickler before taking charge late in Thursday’s 24th annual Night of 1,000 Stars main event at Britt, earning $3,500 for the 50-lap IMCA Modified victory. “I was patient and when I had opportunities I took advantage of them,” Marriott said following his latest Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying win. “I got to second right away after the break and passed for the lead with about eight laps to go.” Last year’s event runner-up as well as the two-time defending Night of 10,000 Stars winner, Marriott had worked his way toward the front from the 12th starting spot as early leader Strickler gave way to Carter following a restart. Carter was dominant to the mandatory pit stop on lap 25, pocketing $1,000 for leading at halfway. Hancock County Speedway hosts June 13 IMCA SportMod Nationals

BRITT, Iowa (June 7, 2022) – Big money is at stake on a Monday night at Hancock County Speedway, with the $2,500 to win Landus Cooperative IMCA SportMod Nationals set for June 13. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods are the evening’s spotlight division with a main event that pays $300 to start. Drivers can go to MyRacePass to pay an early entry fee of $75 or pay $100 at the gate. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks all race for $1,000 to win, Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts for $200 to win. Modified and Stock Car winners become eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational, respectively. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and KMJ State points will be awarded.
