LEBANON, Ore. (May 11, 2024) – Willamette Speedway finally returned to racing Saturday after a few wet weeks and former track champion Grey Ferrando was phenomenal in the Saturday feature for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds.

Hometown driver Carter Patterson was quick out of the gate but a couple cautions in the first five laps kept the field close.  On a lap five restart, Ferrando turned up the wick and applied heat to Patterson.

Despite Patterson’s excellent speed out of the corners, Ferrando’s relentless pursuit paid off after the yellow flag waved on lap nine.  On the restart, Ferrando made a decisive move, taking the lead on the 10th circuit.

Ferrando was not out of the woods, however, as Bricen James made a run on the pacesetter. Before James could get around for the top spot, the fourth and final stoppage occurred on lap 20. This set things up for a late race shootout.

The battle for the top spot was intense, with Ferrando and James engaging in a thrilling duel. The race reached its apex on the final lap when the two drivers briefly came together out of turn two.

Ferrando managed to stay ahead, securing a nail-biting victory.

James was second, with Patterson taking third.
