45 years of the IMCA Modified celebrated May 24-26 at Marshalltown, Boone, Vinton

VINTON, Iowa (May 17, 2024) – It’s a three-night event 45 years in the making and it plays out at three of the tracks where IMCA has been part of weekly racing programs for decades.

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds are the spotlight division in $2,000 to win 45th Anniversary events Friday, May 24 at Marshalltown Speedway and Saturday, May 25 at Boone Speedway, then chase a top check on $4,500 and $400 to start in the Sunday, May 26 show at Benton County Speedway.

The first-ever IMCA Modified feature was held in Vinton on June 2, 1979; the division crowned its first track champion at Boone in 1983 and at Marshalltown in 1984.

Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods race for $1,000 to win at Marshalltown and Boone, and for $1,900 to win and $190 to start at Benton County. That class has run at Vinton and Boone since 2005 and at Marshalltown since 2006.

All three Modified feature winners become Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks also run each night, Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite Cornbelt Clash shows are at Marshalltown and Boone and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts are on Friday and Sunday race cards.

Pit gates open at 5:15 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. at Marshalltown, with hot laps at 6:45 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.

Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and veterans, $10 for students ages 11-17 and free for 10 and under. Pit passes are $30 for adults and $15 for kids ages 3-12.

Boone opens the gates at 3:30 p.m. and the grandstand at 4:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 5 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

Pit passes are $30. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for students ages 13-17 and 12 and under free.

Entry fee is $90 for Modifieds and $40 for Northern SportMods, and no track points will be awarded in either division for Sunday’s draw/redraw show at Vinton.

Gates open at 2 p.m. and hot laps are at 4:30 p.m. with racing at 5 p.m.

Pit passes are $35. Admission to the grandstand is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and veterans, $5 for kids 5-12 and free for five and under.
