45 years of the IMCA Modified celebrated May 24-26 at Marshalltown, Boone, Vinton

VINTON, Iowa (May 17, 2024) – It’s a three-night event 45 years in the making and it plays out at three of the tracks where IMCA has been part of weekly racing programs for decades.

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds are the spotlight division in $2,000 to win 45th Anniversary events Friday, May 24 at Marshalltown Speedway and Saturday, May 25 at Boone Speedway, then chase a top check on $4,500 and $400 to start in the Sunday, May 26 show at Benton County Speedway.

The first-ever IMCA Modified feature was held in Vinton on June 2, 1979; the division crowned its first track champion at Boone in 1983 and at Marshalltown in 1984.

Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods race for $1,000 to win at Marshalltown and Boone, and for $1,900 to win and $190 to start at Benton County. That class has run at Vinton and Boone since 2005 and at Marshalltown since 2006.

All three Modified feature winners become Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks also run each night, Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite Cornbelt Clash shows are at Marshalltown and Boone and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts are on Friday and Sunday race cards.

Pit gates open at 5:15 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. at Marshalltown, with hot laps at 6:45 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.

Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and veterans, $10 for students ages 11-17 and free for 10 and under. Pit passes are $30 for adults and $15 for kids ages 3-12.

Boone opens the gates at 3:30 p.m. and the grandstand at 4:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 5 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

Pit passes are $30. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for students ages 13-17 and 12 and under free.

Entry fee is $90 for Modifieds and $40 for Northern SportMods, and no track points will be awarded in either division for Sunday’s draw/redraw show at Vinton.

Gates open at 2 p.m. and hot laps are at 4:30 p.m. with racing at 5 p.m.

Pit passes are $35. Admission to the grandstand is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and veterans, $5 for kids 5-12 and free for five and under.

10 more IMCA Stock Car drivers become B & B All-Star eligible 

VINTON, Iowa (May 31, 2023) – Ten more IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers have stamped B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible on their pre-Super Nationals resume. Two of them – former race winner Kelly Shryock and Jared Siefert – earned guaranteed starting spots with $5,000 checkers at Clay County Classic and Jackson’s Stock Car Challenge, respectively. Dallon Murty, already locked into the 30-car field, counted the $5,000 win at Stuart Speedway’s Whole Hog 50 among his three qualifying wins in May. Carter masters Marshalltown SportMods in photo finish

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 31) – Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods vied for a $500 top prize Friday at Marshalltown Speedway and Brayton Carter took home the top check in a photo finish. Thirty-one cars battled in an 18-lap main event that saw both Carter and runner-up Cory Rose come from the ninth row. The final laps turned out to be a barnburner with Johnathon Logue, Rose and Carter battling it out in an epic duel.  All three drivers would hold momentary leads through those final circuits, but as they crossed the finish line, the win went to Carter in a photo finish. Rose was second by inches and Logue was a close third.  Fourth went to Carter VanDenBerg and Tyler Inman was fifth after starting 15th. Fast Shafts All-Star eligible list adds six

VINTON, Iowa (April 30, 2024) – Another half-dozen Friesen Performance IMCA Modified drivers became eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational during a month that saw more than its share of rain and too many rainouts. Chad Andersen won on opening night of the Ice Breaker Challenge at Eagle Raceway and Dylan Sherfick topped WaKeeney’s Buzzard Bash Dash. Kellen Chadwick collected the Central California Clash checkers at Antioch and Brett Berry was the winner during Dodge City’s Sprint Car Nationals. Topping weekly $1,000 to win events were Jason Czarapata and Justin Zeitner. Drivers already eligible winning one or more qualifying events were Tom Berry Jr., Ethan Braaksma, Spencer Diercks, William Gould, Dakota Sproul and Tim Ward.
