Bittner wins after Reed dominates at Hagerstown

By Jim Haines HAGERSTOWN, Md. (June 19) – Nobody watching Mike Melair would ever have known this would become his first win in an IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway. Thirty cars vied in the event co-sanctioned by the Virginia Sprint Series, Pennsylvania Sprint Series and Laurel Highland Sprint Series and Melair tuned up for the main event with a dominating heat win.  Melair and Jason Roush then paced the feature field to green with Melair out front up top and Mikell McGee falling in behind before a car got a little too sideways causing a few cars to get together.  Once back to green, Melair was off again followed by McGee and soon Ryan Lynn was chasing them down in third. (June 30) – The annual July 4th holiday visit to Langley Speedway was early this year and after 30 fast laps, Glenn Worrell saw the fireworks in the form of a checkered flag first. Bill Rice and Worrell paced the field to green with Rice out first as Worrell stayed close; on lap two, Worrell drove hard into turn one and to the front. Tony Harris and Mike Leraas were quickly all over Rice for second, using the high line in their bid to get by. By lap four, Harris and Leraas went by Rice and the top three were soon together and going at it hard lap after lap. Worrell kept his car smooth as Harris was going low or high every lap to get an opening while keeping Leraas in third as well. (Aug. 20, 2022) – Jerald Harris in the Harris Moving Sprinter showed he can move on track as well winning both his heat and feature, sweeping the Virginia Sprint Series show Saturday evening at Natural Bridge Speedway.  Caleb Harris and Bill Rice paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature to green with Rice out first and Jerald Harris right behind up high on the oval.  Rice stayed out front after a quick yellow with Harris second and Lance Christie, Matt Mullins and Joe Leavell rounding out the top five. The front three stayed right with each other as Leavell made his way to fourth. At halfway, Rice had started to get loose and Harris pounced, going low to the top spot and leaving Rice to battle with Christie. Christie went by and Leavell made it to third not long after.
