ROSEBURG, Ore. (June 7, 2024) – Douglas County Dirtrack fired up for another round of Friday night action, attracting a strong field of cars in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod divisions.

The Modified main started with Bennett Bray taking the lead on the opening circuit before a lap two yellow. Grey Ferrando maneuvered his way around the outside of Bray for the front spot when the race resumed.

The race was a fierce battle for some of the top positions, with Ferrando establishing a significant lead and the fight for second place heating up between Carter Patterson and Bricen James.

James obtained second from Patterson on lap nine, but Patterson got it back on the 12th trip past the flag stand. Things got intense with five to go in lapped traffic. Ferrando negotiated traffic with Patterson and James tussling behind him.

Patterson started to pull away but was caught and overtaken on lap 23 by James. Ferrando was first to the checkers as he scored his third win of 2024 in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region and at the third different facility this season.

James wound up second, followed by Patterson in third.

In the Northern Sport Mods, Trevor Points started the party as the leader. A trio of cautions in the first few laps slowed the going and after a long green flag run developed, Jordan Henry reeled in the leader.

Points was overtaken on lap nine by Henry, who in turn hit a bit of traffic the 13th time around. Before too long, Points was challenging to reclaim the top place position. His persistence finally paid off on lap 16 when he made a sweeping pass in turn four.

Points pulled away from the rest of the competition to earn his first win of 2024.  Henry wound up second over third was Jacob Shandy.
