Oliver takes two wins at CJ Speedway

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 31, 2024) – The 2024 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season continued Friday at CJ Speedway following a rain out of the previous week. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature saw Kyle Madden drive to the front in search of his second feature win in a row at the 4/10 mile dirt track. Madden was way out front when a restart bunched the field up with seven laps completed. Under caution a fuel issue developed in the no. 32 car sidelining Madden. When the race restarted, Kurt Kile took over the race lead and went on to score the win ahead of Kolton Osborn. The win was Kile’s first of the season at CJ Speedway.  The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are always a great show at Columbus Junction and with a strong field of drivers taking the green for their main event fans were treated to another great race. By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 4) – After a three-week hiatus due to wet weather, racing finally resumed at CJ Speedway. The headliner of the night was the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, which saw 18 drivers take the initial green flag. The race was paced early by Stan O’Brian, who held the field at bay until three laps to go when Dustin Griffiths was able to make a move in turn three for the lead using the high line. Griffiths raced to the checkers ahead of O’Brian and defending track champion Adam Bell.  The IMCA Modified feature produced a very popular win for CJ regular Dan “Stumpy” Brockert. Last year, Brockert raced in the SportMod class and the season produced one win. The move up into the Modified class has been a good one for Brockert as he has a win under his belt in the early part of the season.  Brockert ran out front the entire race but was pressured late in the race by Jarrett Brown. By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (Aug. 4, 2023) – The CJ Speedway roared back to life with an action-packed night of racing on a perfectly prepared racing surface thanks to the efforts of promoter Larry Richardson.  The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds have provided great racing all season and the man to beat in the Modified has been Jarrett Brown and the Performer Chassis owned by Bill Failyer comes to the track dialed in every Friday night. Brown took the green for the main event in the ninth starting position and was battling for second before one lap was completed. Brown shot by Kolton Osborn on lap three and went on to record a convincing win in the feature. Brandon Banks advanced from the eighth starting spot to take second but finished well behind Brown. Dakota Simmons had a fine run in taking third.  The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars saw a strong field of 19 drivers take the green for their main event that would see several different drivers take their turn at the front.
