Jasons Ryan, Robles are IMCA aces at Antioch

ANTIOCH, Calif. (June 15, 2024) – Jason Ryan Jr. and Jason Robles were IMCA feature winners Saturday at Antioch Speedway.

Ryan won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature while Robles collected the checkers in the 15-lapper for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.

Kelly Campanile set the early pace ahead of Al Johnson in the Northern SportMod show. A low pass in turn four of the second lap put Ryan into second, and Ryan made a similar move a lap later to take the lead.

Ryan began to stretch his advantage, leaving Campanile to battle Ken Shrader for the second position. By the 17th lap, Ryan held a half-lap advantage over Campanile, but a yellow flag waved for Haley Gomez.

Ryan resumed command on the restart. Shrader tried to get a run on the inside, but Campanile kept her cool on the outside to maintain second. As Ryan brought it home to the satisfying win, Campanile was a career-best second, followed by Shrader, Tommy Clymens Jr. and Trevor Clymens.

Robles’ Stock Car win was his second straight.

Scott Foster jumped into the lead at the start ahead of Jason Jennings and Robles. However, Jennings got sideways exiting turn two on the second lap with Robles going by for second.

For the rest of the race, Robles kept the pressure on Foster. Robles made an inside move on Foster on the backstretch on lap nine to briefly take the lead, but Foster came back strong on the front stretch to complete the lap ahead.

As they raced to the white flag, Robles made an inside move exiting the fourth turn to grab the lead. Robles held off Foster on the final circuit to grab the victory. Jennings settled for third.

Pettit aces IMCA Modified feature in Antioch opener

ANTIOCH, Calif. (Jan. 2) – Jim Pettit II came up big in the first IMCA Modified feature of the season Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Pettit started on the pole and led all 30 laps for the win, holding off a series of challengers for the $1,000, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying victory on a perfectly prepared fast, multi-groove oval.  Up to the task following each of three restarts, Pettit led the 17th starting Nick DeCarlo, Troy Foulger, Kellen Chadwick and Bobby Hogge IV to the checkers.  Todd Gomez and Cody Johnson also raced their way to Antioch’s victory lane on Saturday, in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main events, respectively. Trevor Clymens paced the first 14 laps of the 25-lap Northern SportMod feature before Gomez, another local, grabbed the top spot from ninth starting. Foulger is back on top at Antioch

By Don Martin II  ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 2, 2022) – Troy Foulger won the 20-lap IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Most recently the track champion in 2020, he becomes the third different winner of the season at Antioch as he piloted the Bowers Motorsports Modified to the win.  Trevor Clymens led a pair of laps with the yellow flag waving twice. Clymens led Foulger on the lap three restart but a low pass in turn two a lap later gained Foulger the lead. Kellen Chadwick went low in on lap five to take second with Nick DeCarlo quickly striking to third. Foulger had a straightaway advantage by lap 10 as DeCarlo battled Chadwick to take second. DeCarlo finally grabbed the spot on a lap 14 restart. Foulger was never really threatened as he won with DeCarlo holding off Chadwick for second. Buddy Kniss and Clymens completed the top five. Morris outduels Foulger for California Clash win at Antioch

(May 3, 2023) – Troy Morris III scored the win in the 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event, in Wednesday’s opening round of the Central California Clash at Antioch Speedway.  The win by Morris, already eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, paid $1,000. Jim Pettit II motored into the lead at the start ahead of Troy Foulger. The race had multiple cautions during the first 10 laps with Pettit leading Foulger up to that point. Morris moved up to battle Clark Guglielmoni for third on lap 10. A low pass in turn four on lap 13 put Morris into third and he soon joined the battle between Pettit and Foulger for first.  An outside pass on the back stretch on lap 18 moved Morris around both Pettit and Foulger with Foulger going low in turn four to take second.
