IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods Deer Creek bound for 33rd Harris Clash

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (July 19, 2024) – Even after all these years, event promoter Bob Harris is getting as pumped for the 33rd annual Harris Clash as he did for the inaugural race.

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds run for $5,000 to win, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods for $2,000 to win when they return to Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., for the Tuesday, Aug. 6 Clash, sponsored by Wehrs Machine and Racing Products.

“We have always done a good job with the payout and this year we’ve done especially well with the people who help partner with us in this event,” said Harris, noting Wehrs’ title sponsorship of the Clash itself and the Modified main as well as Fast Shafts’ title sponsorship of the Northern SportMod main. “They all do a really good job helping support this race.”

“The Modified winner gets another $500 if their chassis builder is part of our manufacturers’ cup program and we have a couple new chassis manufacturers who have jumped on board with that,” he added. “That’s always good to see.”

Event sponsors and the awards they’ll be giving during the upcoming Clash include:

•Fast Shafts, $250 to Modified and Northern SportMods with the fastest lap times.

•Aero Race Wheels, sets of wheels to both Modified and Northern SportMod main event winners.

*AFCO, certificates valued at $200, $100 and $50 to top three finishers in the Modified main and $150 and $100 certificates to the top two finishers in the Northern SportMod main.

•BHE Enterprises, four free rebuilds to the highest placing Modified and Northern SportMod on BHE shocks.

•Close Racing Supply, $300 to the Modified hard charger and $200 to the Northern SportMod hard charger.

•Hyperco, four free springs to the Modified and Northern SportMod drivers with the worst re-draws.

•RTI, certificates to hard luck Modified and Northern SportMod drivers to attend chassis school.

•And TomCat Performance, product awards for both main event and heat winners.

“I’ve done this for 33 years but I’m still as excited about this as I was the very first year,” Harris said. “As long as I can do that, I’ll promote this event until I’m in the ground.”

The Modified winner at IMCA’s longest running one-day special earns Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Modified Razor Chassis North Central Region and Minnesota State points will be awarded.
