Wolf gets first win, Rundle repeats at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (July 28, 2024) – It was a memorable Sunday for Will Wolf at Benton County Speedway.

The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod driver raced to his career first win on the fast, smooth, quarter-mile Bullring.

Robert Patava led the early stages of the 15-lapper while Wolf worked into contention from a second row start. He took command a handful of laps into the event while Kyle Olson and Tony Olson made their way through the pack.

Wolf built a one second lead over the Olsons, who battled side-by-side behind the leader throughout much of the race.

Wolf maintained his stay out front to drive to the milestone win ahead of Tony Olson, who inched ahead of Kyle Olson at the checkers. Rayce Mullen ran fourth.

One week after his first career win, Robert Rundle made back-to-back trips to victory lane in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts.

Rundle took charge at the drop of the green and built a sizable lead while Lukas Rick raced through the field from the third row.

Rundle survived Rick’s pressure and a late caution to score the win. Jay Crabill and Blake Driscol completed the top four.

Matt Brown earned a hard-fought win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by iHeart Radio. Brown was in a four-car battle with Justin Stander, Kale Hemsley and Briar Kriegel throughout much of that 15-lapper before he powered ahead to grab the win. Hemsley, Stander and Kriegel chased Brown to the checkers.

Chris Zogg came from the third row to score his first win at The Bullring in three years in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by Wright Way Trailers. He took the checkers ahead of a hard-charging Troy Cordes, Ben Chapman and Mark Schulte.

John Oliver Jr. drove from the fifth row to his fifth win of the year in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Christie Door Company. Kaden Reynolds pressured late, but finished second ahead of Norman Chesmore and Kyle Olson.

Tracy Quigley won a thriller in a special appearance by the American Iron Racing Series (A.I.R.S.). Quigley led throughout that 15-lapper, but lapped traffic allowed Bart Miller to close late. The lead pair worked high and low around side-by-side lapped cars as they ran four-wide at the line with Quigley holding on by a nose. Miller, Dennis Etten and Dan Thompson rounded out the top four.

Berry scores Sunday IMCA Modified win at Benton County

By Jerry Mackey  VINTON, Iowa (July 19) – A beautiful July night greeted a nice crowd at the Benton County Speed­way, The Bullring Sunday night. Well over 100 cars took part in the fast-paced racing pro­gram that saw the final checkered of the night wave before 9:30 p.m.   The IMCA Modifieds saw a 20-car starting field take the green flag. Ethan Braaksma took off from his pole position start and went on to lead the first half of the main event. Tom Berry Jr. worked to the front from his seventh position start and took over the point as the event passed halfway mark. Carter cashes in on another big payday at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 1) – When big money is on the line, Cayden Carter is the man to beat.  Already the winner of the Urbana 5 Memorial last month, Carter picked up $1,250 Sunday night in the KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modifieds during Autism Awareness Night at Benton County Speedway. From a second row start, Carter pursued Tommy Belmer and Chris Snyder at the onset of the 20-lapper before working his way into the lead.  Carter built a straightaway advantage while Troy Cordes raced the top side into second from a fourth row start. Cordes cut into the sizable deficit and was able to stick his nose to the inside of the race leader in the final set of turns, however Carter held on to take top honors. Berry tops IMCA Modifieds, Wieben rallies for Northern SportMod win at Anniversary special

VINTON, Iowa (May 30, 2022) – Tom Berry Jr. led all the laps and Sam Wieben led the most important one in the Monday night 43rd Anniversary special at Benton County Speedway. Berry led all 43 laps in winning the star-filled Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature, while Wieben lost, then got the lead back from Taylor Kuehl on the final circuit to win the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature.  “It’s always pretty special to win at the home track of IMCA,” said Berry, who was checking and double checking his car while crewman and right hand man Josh Capalla got the ace in the intermission card draw that gave him the inside front row start. “I don’t get to start on the front row that often.
