Bald Tire Bash, Kids’ Backpack Night this Sunday at The Bullring

VINTON, Iowa (July 17, 2022) – It was a memorable Sunday night for a trio of drivers at Benton County Speedway. Brady Hilmer, Michael Kimm and Steven Schmitz earned the first wins of their careers in their respective divisions at The Bullring. Hilmer took the lead at the drop of the green in the main event for the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. While Hilmer paced the field, Joe Docekal worked through traffic and settled into second a few laps into the 15-lapper. He then proceeded to pursue the leader around the top of the quick quarter-mile. Docekal tried numerous times to race the low side into the lead, however Hilmer proved too strong up top to earn the milestone victory. Docekal ran second ahead of Brandon Tharp and Justin Wacha. VINTON, Iowa (May 30, 2022) – Tom Berry Jr. led all the laps and Sam Wieben led the most important one in the Monday night 43rd Anniversary special at Benton County Speedway. Berry led all 43 laps in winning the star-filled Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature, while Wieben lost, then got the lead back from Taylor Kuehl on the final circuit to win the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature.  “It’s always pretty special to win at the home track of IMCA,” said Berry, who was checking and double checking his car while crewman and right hand man Josh Capalla got the ace in the intermission card draw that gave him the inside front row start. “I don’t get to start on the front row that often. VINTON, Iowa (June 30, 2024) – A pair of first-time winners were joined by four return visitors to victory lane Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Nearly 130 cars signed in to compete on a full night of racing at The Bullring. Ethan Braaksma earned his first Vinton win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main. From a fourth row start, Braaksma ran the high side into the lead at around midway of the Wright Way Trailers 20-lapper. He then survived a couple late stoppages and pressure from Troy Cordes and Owen Barnhill to score the win. Braaksma, who won a SportMod feature in Vinton in 2017, became the 98th Modified winner in track history.
