Mills, Swearingen, Fett, Nielsen earn Hancock County crowns

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 23, 2024) – Season championship night at Hancock County Speedway on Friday night was sponsored by Doug Studer Farms and KIOW 107.3 Radio. 

In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Jeremy Mills entered the night with a sizable point lead and was crowned the track champion. In the feature, he worked the top side repeatedly until he was able to get past Cody Knecht in the second half of the main.

Knecht, who led the first half of the event, used a late-race caution to make one last attempt to get past Mills but had to settle for second. Kelly Shryock gained six spots to finish third ahead of Nick Meyer. 

The closet point battle of the night was in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Troy Swearingen entered the night with a three-point lead on Heath Tulp.

Tulp led the entire feature and collected the trophy but had to fend off a charging Swearingen, who fell back several spots early in the race. Swearingen finished a close second and secured the season point title. Shryock and Loren Pesicka Jr. completed the top four. 

There were several twists and turns in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main.

Josh Appel led the first couple of laps but spun by himself in turn four, sending him to the back. Colby Fett took over the top spot until he spun in turn one, putting Alec Fett as the leader.

While Alec Fett was the leader and in command, Appel flew through the field to third. A late caution had Appel steal the win over the last couple of laps for the win. Alec Fett finished second and was the season point champion. Third and fourth went to Jake Sachau and Charlie Stevens, respectively.  

While Brandon Nielsen had the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock point title wrapped up when he started the main, Mike Smith stole the show.

Smith, who went from fourth to first as they approached halfway, won the main handily. Nielsen finished second ahead of Chris Krug and Dan Hanselman.

Strickler is best at Britt for IMCA Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour win

BRITT, Iowa (July 24) – There’s something about Hancock County Speedway that brings out the best in Kyle Strickler. Strickler led every lap in winning Tuesday’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour feature for IMCA Modifieds, earning $2,000 along with a spot on the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Hunter Marriott followed his Monday night victory at Park Jefferson Speedway with a runner-up finish. He pressured Strickler throughout the first half of the race and was joined by Ryan Ruter in hot pursuit the last half. Strickler, however, was able to lengthen his lead on the rest of the field before taking the check­ers. The victory was Strickler’s Dirt Knights Tour career third and all have been at Britt. Hobo 40 at Hancock County pays IMCA Stock Car winner $2,000

BRITT, Iowa – Forty laps will be the distance and $2,000 will be the top prize at Hancock County Speedway’s Friday, July 31 Hobo 40 special for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. That feature pays a minimum of $200 to start, has a $75 entry fee and highlights the county fair show. Also on the race night card are IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, KMJ Performance State and track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 5 p.m., the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. and racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and veterans, and free for kids ages 12 and under. $2,000 is top check at Hancock County’s IMCA Spring Fling SportMod Nationals 

BRITT, Iowa (May 8, 2024) – The stars of IMCA’s Northern SportMod division will shine the brightest next Monday night at The Home of the Stars, Hancock County Speedway. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods race for $2,000 to win and a minimum of $200 to start their May 13 Spring Fling Nationals main event. The runner-up earns $1,250, third place is good for $1,000 and fourth place pays $700. Tow money is $75 and entry fee is $50. SportMods can also pre-register on My Race Pass. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and $100 to start, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $750 to win and $75 to start in their respective All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility features. Top check in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature is $400. All classes are draw/redraw. The Spring Fling SportMod Nationals are presented by Gold-Eagle Cooperation and will be broadcast by IMCA.TV.
