Showdown in Motown ushers in holiday weekend racing action

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 23) – It was the Larry Wollam Season Championship night on Friday at the Marshalltown Speedway where family, friends, and fans celebrated the man who was such an inspiration to the track and racing in general.  It was the 20th anniversary of the passing of Wollam, who had been a racer, promoter, and big supporter of the speedway. Leah Wroten had the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock track title wrapped up before the race began, leading by 40 points.  It also appeared that she won the 15-lap feature race, but that was not the case.  Wroten led all laps but when she got into Kaden Reynolds as they approached the checkers, spinning him out, she was penalized for the contact and the victory was awarded to Jacob Floyd. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 5, 2022) – Four IMCA divisions are on the Thursday night card for the fifth annual Dale DeFrance Memorial at Marshalltown Speedway. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and $200 to start along with Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility on July 7 while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $750 to win and $155 to start, plus B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods run for $600 to win and $150 to start, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $400 to win and $95 to start.  Feature winners receive certificates from Performance Bodies and a case of oil. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 13, 2022) – Less than favorable weather forecasts have forced Karl Auto Group Marshalltown Speedway track officials to postpone the $5,000 to win King of the Highbanks special for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.  Practice was originally scheduled tonight (Wednesday) with King of the Highbanks programs Thursday and Friday.  While the practice and Thursday show are off, the April 15 program has been rebranded as the Friday Season Preview.  Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars both run for $1,000 to win along with Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility, respectively.
