BLOOMFIELD, Iowa (Mar. 29, 2025) — Todd Shute captured the $1,250 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified finale on the final night of the Southern Iowa Frostout at Bloomfield Speedway with a wire-to-wire effort, holding off a furious late-race charge from Cayden Carter.
The 2007 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s winner set the early pace on the 3/8-mile Davis County Fairgrounds oval before a lap 11 caution erased his advantage. Carter, the 2018 Harris Clash winner piloting the Joe Ferguson-owned No. 10C, shadowed Shute throughout the restart and pulled alongside on the final lap, but the champion the last two seasons at Stuart Speedway, from Norwalk, held on at the line to claim his first Razor Chassis North Central Region win of 2025.
Illinois’ Austen Becerra, aboard the Jon and Joyce Fuller No. 22, nipped Jon Fuller, from Missouri, in a tight battle for third.
Agee Outduels De Jong in Stock Car Thriller
Derrick Agee charged from seventh and battled door-to-door with Maguire De Jong in a thrilling Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature to score his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the season.
Once racing resumed after a red flag incident, De Jong and Agee traded crossover moves before Agee gained the upper hand right at the halfway mark.
The Huntsville, Missouri driver pulled away in the closing laps while De Jong fended off two-time Iowa State champion John Oliver Jr. for second. It was a step up for Agee, who finished second in this event one year ago. De Jong was the runner-up followed by the eleven-time and defending 34 Raceway Stock Car champ, Oliver, in third.
Van Wyk Doubles Up in Dominant SportMod Run
Oskaloosa’s Dylan Van Wyk made it two for two at Bloomfield, grabbing his second Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod win of the Frostout weekend.
After starting fifth, the 2023 CJ Speedway champ reeled in early leader Brandon Dale and powered to the lead around lap five. From there, Van Wyk pulled away by using the top groove while slicing through lapped traffic with precision.
Dale held on for second, and 2023 Harris Clash winner Cam Reimers completed the podium in third.
Van Derwilt Gets Frostout Redemption in Hobby Stocks
After finishing runner-up on Friday night, Corey Van Derwilt, from Lynnville, returned to Bloomfield and finished the job, winning the 16-lap Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature for his first B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region triumph of the year.
The 2023 Marshalltown Speedway champion led from the start and survived a late caution that bunched up the field. Briar Kriegel ripped the cushion to challenge in the final laps, but Van Derwilt held him off to seal the win.
Kriegel was second, while Friday night winner Kale Hemsley rounded out the top three.
Reu Sweeps Frostout with Sport Compact Masterclass
Brandon Reu put an exclamation mark on his Southern Iowa Frostout weekend by sweeping both nights of the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact competition.
Barry Taft, a two-time 34 Raceway champ and 2018 Illinois State titleholder, led early before Reu charged from tenth and took the lead after a lap 9 restart. The two went side-by-side for several laps, with Taft glued to the bottom and the Donnelson driver working the top.
Reu finally gained the edge and held on for the win. Taft settled for second, just one spot shy of repeating his Frostout finale win from a year ago. Seth Meinders was third.
