Morris Rockets to STIMS Season-Opening Win at Texana

EDNA, Texas (Apr. 26, 2025) — Chris Morris launched the defense of his South Texas IMCA Modified Series title in dominant fashion Saturday night, picking up a $1,500 victory in the 20-lap season opener at Texana Raceway Park.

Morris, the 2022 Cotton Bowl Speedway track champion from Thorndale, outdueled Cody Leonard at the drop of the green and took off like a rocket ship in clean air. A caution just past the midway point brought the field back together, but Morris executed a perfect restart and kept up the pace through multiple subsequent yellows.

A final caution with four laps remaining couldn’t slow his momentum, and Morris powered away to secure his third career STIMS triumph—becoming the third different winner at Texana in as many tour events held at the ¼-mile oval. Morris also clocked the fastest lap of the race, earning an extra $750 bonus for his performance.

Leonard finished second, with two-time I-37 Speedway champion Chad Doyon completing the podium in third.

Weekend Races at I-37 Speedway and HOT Speedway Rained Out — STIMS Racing Update

We regret to inform our fans, teams, and supporters that both races scheduled for this weekend at I-37 Speedway and HOT Speedway have been cancelled due to rain. Given the number of travelers planning to attend, and after speaking earlier with HOT Speedway promoter Selby Holder, we’ve mutually agreed that STIMS Racing will not run a show tomorrow night in Waco. We believe this is the best decision for everyone involved. Both events will be rescheduled, and we will announce the new dates as soon as possible. Our next event is scheduled for April 26th at Texana Raceway Park. We look forward to seeing everyone there for a great night of racing!

Leonard lands $1,000 STIMS win at I-37

By JM Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (June 15, 2024) – Cody Leonard landed a $1,000 punch when the South Texas IMCA Modifieds Series (STIMS) returned to do battle at I-37 Speedway on Saturday night. The series’ fourth trip to the track this season saw Leonard front on lap three and in charge the rest of the way en route to Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. “I’ll be honest. Texana adding IMCA Modifieds to Saturday shows

EDNA, Texas (Feb. 26) – Interest generated by a Modified race held at Edna last fall led to the IMCA division being sanctioned there this season. IMCA Modifieds join Saturday programs at Texana Raceway Park beginning with opening night on March 30. Another 13 events are scheduled at the 5/16-mile clay oval through season championship night on Sept. 28. “There was a lot of interest. We polled the drivers and it was unanimous that they wanted to go with IMCA,” said promoter Rachel Densman, who purchased the track two years ago with her husband Kenny, a former Modified driver. “IMCA is a well-known organization. We like the rules and we like that our drivers will be eligible for point funds.” Located approximately 100 miles southwest of Houston, Texana Raceway Park will field a strong group of local Modified drivers while getting cars from the San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Houston areas. Killingsworth Continues Hot Start With Cottage Grove Victory

(Apr. 26, 2025) — Ethan Killingsworth made it two straight wins to start the season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region, putting on a dominant performance Saturday night at Cottage Grove Speedway’s 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. The Yreka, California, driver secured the lead on the opening lap after a fierce battle with Kevin Williamson, who pilots the Paul and Maria Culp-owned entry. Killingsworth, in his rookie IMCA Modified campaign after winning Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod titles at both Southern Oregon and Yreka in 2024, was flawless on the restart after an early caution on lap 3. Morris Steals Late Model Win in Final Turn Drama

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Apr. 26, 2025) — Fans at Maquoketa Speedway were treated to a heart-pounding finish in the 25-lap Sunoco IMCA Late Model main event. Travis Denning appeared poised to go back-to-back, but a thrilling final-turn scramble in traffic opened the door for Mitch Morris. As the leaders split a lapped car coming to the checkers, Morris shot low while Denning went high, with Logan Veloz charging right behind them. Morris edged ahead at the line for his first win of the 2025 campaign, with Veloz nipping Denning for the runner-up spot. Andersen Scores First Stock Car Victory at Eagle Raceway

(Apr. 26, 2025) — A longtime competitor in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Chad Andersen broke through in a big way Saturday night at Eagle Raceway, scoring his first career win in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car division. Andersen took over the top spot on lap 10 after a thrilling, multi-lap battle with John Anderson, then held off late pressure to secure the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory. Anderson, who led early, remained a threat throughout the 20-lap contest, while Mason Richards raced his way into third.
