Buena Vista Raceway’s Aug. 5 IMCA Modified feature pays $1,300 to win 

ALTA, Iowa – Winning the Wednesday, Aug. 5 Marv Rueter Memorial for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds at Buena Vista Raceway will be good for $1,300 and a spot on the ballot for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. The Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod winner earns $500 and the Mach-1 Sport Compact winner earns $300. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and BVR Bombers complete the weekly race program. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded. Modified, Northern SportMod and Sport Compact portions of the show will be draw/redraw. Entry fees are $50 for the Modifieds, $35 for the Northern SportMods and $25 for the Sport Compacts. Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Southern Iowa Speedway hosts IMCA Late Models on Aug. 5

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – IMCA Late Models return to Southern Iowa Speedway on Wednesday, Aug. 5, with a top prize of $750 at stake. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Also on the weekly card will be Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Mach-1 Sport Compacts and the Iowa Sportsman Series. Sponsors for the evening are Supreme Lawn & Landscape, Van Wall Equipment, Farmers Support America, KBOE and Mahaska Bottling. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $6 for students and free for 12 and under. Pit passes are $25. Kids’ Club is at 6:30 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

Grossenbacher wins Gage County Fair Sprint show at Beatrice 

BEATRICE, Neb. (July 26) – The first time Trevor Grossenbacher raced at Beatrice Speedway, he ended up upside down in a borrowed car. His second visit had a happier ending. Grossenbacher won Sunday’s Sprint Series of Nebraska feature during the Gage County Fair. He led all 20 circuits after starting outside row three, taking the top line to the front on the first turn and then running the bottom groove. Adam Guillion, Jason Danley, Joey Danley and Shon Pointer completed the top five. The victory was Grossenbacher’s IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car tour second this year. Hasty Hammock tops 281 Sprint Series of Texas main

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (July 25) – Jerry Hammock didn’t waste much time getting to the front Saturday night at 281 Speedway. The sixth starting Hammock drove to the lead half a lap into the Sprint Series of Texas main event at 281 Speedway. He stayed in front ‘til the end of a 20-lapper that ran caution-free. “The two cars in front of me went to the cushion and I went to the middle,” Hammock summarized after the win, his IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car tour second of the season. Yarie, Loberger race to Sun Drop Shootout wins 

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (July 28) – Marcus Yarie and Dustin Loberger both brought home the hard fought victories from Shawano Speedway’s Sun Drop Shootout. Yarie started on the pole of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature field but it was no cakewalk as Brad Lautenbach was scored first on each of the first six laps. Yarie took the lead from Lautenbach with Brian Mullen following on the next circuit. Mullen and Johnny Whitman began to pressure Yarie on lap 10.  Yarie fought off numerous charges by Mullen and Whitman over the remaining 10 laps on his way to victory lane.  Matt Oresko­vich passed Whitman late in the race to take third. Loberger started outside one in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and took the lead with brother-in-law Scott Stewart and nephew Steven Stewart close behind. LaSALLE, Ill. – IMCA Late Models race for $2,000 to win and Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds for $1,000 to win at LaSalle Speedway’s inaugural One Night Stand special Saturday, Aug. 1. The Modified feature is a qualifying event for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Completing the card are Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods chasing a $400 top check. Green matches top payday with repeat run to Hancock County Fair Stock Car checkers 

BRITT, Iowa (July 24) – Winning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car headliner at Hancock County Speedway’s fair the first time was special. Winning that event, and another $4,000, a second time was even better for Derek Green. Green repeated the big payday at Britt on Friday night. He had the fastest car among 55 entries from six states, including Texas, and beat Kyle Vanover to the line by a couple car lengths. Kevin Opheim, who’d pocketed $2,000 just the night before at Kossuth County Speedway, 17th starting Randy Brands and Dan Mackenthun, completed the top five. Green had started fourth and was running at the front of the 26-car field by the third of 25 laps. He built a straightaway lead that disappeared with a rash of late cautions. Dream season continues for Olmstead 

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (July 26) – Taming the Dawson County Raceway oval with authority Sunday evening were hotshoes Mike Densberger, Steve Kempt, Casey Werkmeister and Jacob Olmstead. Continuing his dream season, Olmstead led the final two laps to win the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Earning second-place accolades was Kyle Bond and Caleb Hetrick worked his way through heavy traffic for third. Round 2 voting starts for Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational 

BOONE, Iowa (July 29) – Fourteen more IMCA Modified drivers will be elected to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational field, in voting that starts today (Wednesday) through the IMCA Facebook page. Round two candidates all won 40-point features held between June 19 and July 16. Voting continues until Aug. 5. The drivers with the top two vote totals in each of the five regions and four at-large candidates advance to the Friday, Sept. 11 Invitational during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. I-88 Speedway hosts IMCA Empire State Series on Friday 

AFTON, N.Y. (July 29) – I-88 Speedway is next on the IMCA Empire State Series schedule this Friday, July 31. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds chase a $500 top check in the fifth of eight tour installments this season. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 9-15, and free for eight and under.
