Pederson leads every lap at North Platte

(July 11) – Dave Pederson, Jamey Kennicutt, Kyle Werkmeister, Jacob Olmstead and Erik Nelson all punched their tickets to the winner’s circle Saturday evening at Lincoln County Raceway. Cashing in on his great starting spot on the grid, Pederson led every lap of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature to earn the victory. Mike Densberger made the pass for second place with two laps to go. Grabbing the lead on the sixth lap and never looking back, Kennicutt claimed top honors in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main. Making his way through the pack, Chad Dolan wheeled his hot rod to the runner-up finish after starting deep in the field. Winning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature was a test of perseverance for Werkmeister, who led every lap during the showcase event. Cole captures fifth Tri-State trophy

By Rob Nugent POCOLA, Okla. (July 11) – Tate Cole took home his fifth Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature winner’s trophy of the season Saturday from Tri-State Speedway. Anthony Reeves was second and third was Kent Bright. First-time winners were Shannon Cox in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Cody Rongey in the IMCA SportMods. Mike Wiseman and Chris Patterson rounded out the Stock Car top three. Aaron Scroggins was second and Ken McCarty third in the SportMod headliner.

Second straight for Schmidt at Shawano

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (July 11) – A big crowd turned out in support of the Shawano Speedway’s fifth edition of Racing for a Reason. Jamie Schmidt made it two in a row in the IMCA Modifieds. Travis Van Straten ran his win streak to eight in a row in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Lucas Lamberies won his third of the year in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Schmidt was dominant in winning last week’s Modified feature and he backed it up this week. He went three wide through turns three and four and raced from sixth to the lead on the opening lap and led the entire 20-lap race. Jerry Wilinski moved from 10th to finish second. Marcus Yarie started 15th and finished third. Luke Uttecht and Steven Stewart enjoyed brief stints at the front of the Stock Car field before Van Straten took over on lap four. VanderMark first in Crystal feature

CRYSTAL, Mich. (July 11) – Gary VanderMark was first across the stripe in Saturday’s Allstar Performance IMCA Modified feature at Crystal Motor Speedway. Brady Hollenbeck wasted no time in gaining the lead while VanderMark, Vern Buskirk, Johnny DeYoung and Chance Hoppes dueled for second and third. Hollenbeck led the event until the white flag lap when VanderMark edged under him to take the lead and the win.

Hauswirth wins Hobby Stock feature at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 9) – Austin Hauswirth has come close before this summer but always fell just a little short. That all changed Thursday at Kossuth County Speedway as Hauswirth won the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. It was not easy for Hauswirth as three cautions and the hard charging Shannon Anderson made things interesting. Hauswirth and Anderson went door-to-door for the final five laps but Hauswirth held on for the win. Anderson took second with Chanse Hollatz third. Jesse Hoeft grabbed the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified lead early. Only a single yellow flag delayed his trip to winner’s circle although second place Jeremy Mills made a run in the final few laps. Point leader Tad Reutzel was third. Modified finale at Jamestown falls to rain; Thornton is Dakota Classic Tour champion

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (July 10) – Rain and wet track conditions were combined to kayo the final Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature of the record-setting Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour Week. Ricky Thornton Jr. won his heat and drew the pole start for what was to have been the Friday finale at Jamestown. He headed home for Chandler, Ariz., with the tour championship, eight points better than 2013 king Aaron Turnbull and nine markers ahead of defending champion Jeff Taylor. Joe Flory won the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and $800 at Jamestown. Elijah Zevenbergen clinched his career second championship in the division with his second place showing. With many of the best drivers in the division converging on North Dakota and Saskatchewan, a record average 90.33 Modifieds competed each night of the July 5-10 tour. Kay, Olson continue streaks at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (July 10) – Justin Kay and Tony Olson both added to their local win totals Friday at Davenport Speedway. Kay captured his fifth straight feature in the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models but it wasn’t an easy win. Mike Zemo Jr. jumped out to the early lead from the pole. Zemo held off Brunson Behning throughout the first half of the race and slowly started to pull away. Kay finally reeled in Zemo in the closing laps and took the lead coming to the white flag. The victory was Kay’s fifth in five starts this season. Behning passed Zemo on the final lap for second. Zemo broke a gear but still finished third. Olson notched win number four in the Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Olson went from 10th starting to first in less than two laps. Dripps, Williams take first Marshalltown wins

By Jeremy Fox MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 10) – Corey Dripps and Brandon Williams won their first Marshalltown Speedway features of the season Friday night. Dripps grabbed the top spot following an early restart in the Coors Light IMCA Modified main event with Eric Elliott in tow. Dripps and Elliott battled for the lead until the caution came out again on lap 10 for Colby Heishman experiencing troubles exiting the track. Dripps got a great restart while Josh Gilman and Jimmy Gustin raced into second and third, respectively. Dripps went on to take his first win at Marshalltown while Gustin grabbed second from Gilman on the last lap. Outside row one starter Frank Packer grabbed the early Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod lead. Packer continued to pave the away, holding off Dusty Masolini and Sam Wieben while Williams worked his way to second. Rupp rallies for BVR SportMod victory

By Steve Zwemke ALTA, Iowa (July 8) – Tip Rupp was in and out of the lead before finally securing the front spot for good in Wednesday’s Pizza Ranch of Storm Lake IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Buena Visa Raceway. Doug Smith started behind Rupp on the inside of the third row; Rupp got past John Briggs and Shane Hammen to lead the first lap. Smith then tailed Rupp until getting around him on the fifth circuit. Rupp stayed within a couple of car lengths and regained the lead on lap 10. He held off Smith as the race ended green, white, checkered to capture his third local win of the season.
