Stuart’s Ron Little/Bones Memorial rescheduled for June 14

STUART, Iowa (May 24) – Tonight’s Ron Little/Bones Memorial for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Stuart Speedway has been rescheduled due to inclement weather to Sunday, June 14. Modifieds chase a $1,000 check at the 15th annual event. If not already vote eligible, the winner becomes a ballot candidate for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Muenster, Jach win first features of season Saturday at Shawano

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (May 23) – Eddie Muenster and Jason Jach both won for the first time this season Saturday at Shawano Speedway. Muenster passed Kevin Feck following a lap seven restart and then held off Jason Czarapata for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified checkers, his sanctioned career 65th in the division. Jach also made his move to the front on the seventh circuit, passing Tracy Wassenberg for the front in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main event. Travis Van Straten needed 13 circuits to catch Brandon Czarapata and Shawn Wagner for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car lead and stayed in front to the checkers.

Snellenberger holds on for Bouche Memorial checkers

(May 23) – Rod Snellenberger held off Dave Bouche at the wire to capture the $1,000 top prize in the seventh annual Nathan Bouche Memorial IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature Saturday at Thunderhill Raceway. The only caution of the contest came on lap five. The front pair made it a two-car race the last 18 times around the oval with Bouche no more than a car length behind at any time. Behind the lead duo, Shawn Havel advanced to third and, for a time, was making up ground. But the advance stalled in the late stages and he settled for third. Derek Moede and John Anschutz ran together for the duration, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Dan Sell completed the top six, piloting the Nathan Bouche tribute car. Lambert earns career first win at 141

By Greg Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (May 23) – Josh Lambert bested a 23-car field to earn his first career Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature victory Saturday at 141 Speedway. Lambert put his racer up top and grabbed the lead from Race Van Pay on lap four. Lambert put on a dominant performance that saw him with a full straightaway lead mid-race but a caution with eight laps remaining brought everyone back together. Doug Maurer used a veteran restart to move around Lambert and into the lead with seven laps to go. Lambert stayed true to his line and didn’t falter as he moved back around Maurer with laps left. Other winners on Memorial Weekend included Jeremy Jacobs in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, John Heinz in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Brandon Kay in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Three dates announced for Dominick Bruns Memorial Challenge Cup Chase

DANUBE, Minn. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will race for $1,000 to win on each of three Dominick Bruns Memorial Challenge Cup Chase dates. Jackson Speedway hosts the opening night show on Saturday, May 30. The Chase is at Murray County Speedway in Slayton on Friday, July 17 and at Redwood Speedway in Redwood Falls on Sunday, July 26. The top driver in point standings for the three nights earns a $1,000 share of the $2,000 series point fund and becomes eligible to qualify for the Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Emphasis remains on safety with Joie of Seating awards

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Randy LaJoie and The Joie of Seating help keep the spotlight on safety with awards for IMCA drivers involved in race night crashes this season. Drivers in all sanctioned divisions who submit photos of their crashed race car to the home office receive $200 certificates, good toward the purchase of a seat from the Kannapolis, N.C., manufacturer. Each month, one driver will be featured in The Joie of Seating Safety Spotlight, published in Inside IMCA, and receives a $250 product certificate. Damage to race cars must have occurred at a sanctioned event and photos can be sent to IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder. Oshkosh wins are first for Bartel, Wichman

By Dave Panske OSHKOSH, Wis. (May 22) – Chad Bartel and Greg Wichman both won at Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway for the first time in their respective IMCA careers Friday night. Bartel bested the Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modified main after running side-by-side with eventual runner-up T.J. Smith. Wichman hugged the inside line and held off persistent Travis Van Straten in the Total Power Sales IMCA Stock Car headliner. Ryan Besaw took the lead on lap seven and was still in first when the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main was checkered due to the time limit. The win was his first locally this season. All race winners received trophies from the Kim Parsons Memorial Trophy Tour for Organ and Tissue donation.

Larson leads the way at Marshalltown

By Jeremy Fox MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 22) – Adam Larson won at Marshalltown for the first time this season in Friday’s Coors Light IMCA Modified main event. Scott Simatovich was the early leader while Larson, Joel Rust and Jimmy Gustin went two- and three-wide behind him. Rust grabbed the lead away on lap nine, then gave way to Gustin on lap 12. Gustin, in turn, saw Larson take the lead away on lap 13 and drive to the checkers. Rust took second, Josh Gilman came from ninth to third and Gustin was fourth and Simatovich. Donavon Smith was the winner by a bumper over Trent Murphy in the Miller Lite IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Colby Heishman won his career first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature on Tuesday and won his second Friday at Marshalltown. Austin Luellen won another Toby K’s Hideaway IMCA Hobby Stock main event, by a car length over Andy Hick.

Droste takes IMCA Modified Madness cash at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 22) – The IMCA Modified Madness 50 was the big show Friday night at Davenport Speedway. When the checkered flag fell, the spotlight was on Tyler Droste. Making his first visit to Davenport with an IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified, Droste topped the $2,000 to win feature after swapping the lead and a little paint with Milo Veloz. “There were a lot of good cars here and a lot of very good drivers in the feature,” said Droste. “It helped having been here once before this year (in a Late Model) because every track is just a little bit different.” The main event started with 2012 race winner Veloz on the pole. Veloz jumped out to the early race lead but was in and out of first before Droste took over for good on the 46th of 50 circuits.
