Wernette is fastest at Crystal 

CRYSTAL, Mich. (May 2) – Thirty-five Allstar Performance IMCA Modifieds saw action Saturday at Crystal Motor Speedway and the fastest of them was driven by Chad Wernette. Wernette outdueled Myron DeYoung in front of a full grandstand. John DeYoung Jr. wasn’t far back in third, followed by Brody Bowser and A.J. Ward.

Seymour win is Wedelstadt’s IMCA 110th

By Dave Panske SEYMOUR, Wis. (May 3) – Mike Wedelstadt pulled away from the pack en route to Budweiser IMCA Modified career win number 110 Sunday at Seymour Speedway. Jerry Wilinski had taken charge and set the pace for the first six laps before Wedelstadt  powered by on the outside. A pair of cautions on lap eight bunched the field but Wedelstadt stayed in con­trol and pulled away from the second place battle to collect his first feature win of the season. Wilinski, Jamie Schmidt, Mark Joski and Chad Bartel ran together in a tight battle for the runner-up spot, which Joski was able to secure at the finish. Mike Schmidt ran the inside line to perfection and collected his first career Seymour Coors Light IMCA Stock Car win. Rod Snellenberger made a hard run over the final two laps for second. Lucas Lamberies also made the most of the inside groove and won the O’Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Northern SportMod headliner. Second was J.J. Anderson.

Antioch Modified checkers fly for Busby

ANTIOCH, Calif.  (May 2) – Scott Busby, one of the most winning drivers in California history, scored his second victory of the 2015 season in Saturday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main event at Antioch Speedway. Busby fought off challenges from Troy Foulger on the last two laps of the race. The feature saw Grand Theft Auto game developer Jeff Thomas driving his car like he stole it. Thomas jumped into a commanding lead early in the event, separating from the pack of cars. When second running Carl Berendsen spun with just four laps to go, the resulting restart put Busby and Alex Wilson behind Thomas. At the drop of the green, Thomas looked like he was go­ing for the win but suddenly pulled off with engine problems. Busby and Wilson charged forward. Lynch, Gower and Abbott score Quincy wins 

By Jack Walbring QUINCY, Ill. (May 3) – Jim Lynch, Joey Gower and Kimberly Abbott all scored IMCA feature wins at Quincy Raceway during action on Sunday May 3. The Powder Coat Plus IMCA Stock Car main event went to Lynch, who took his second feature win of the season over Abe Huls, Beau Taylor, Andrew Hustead and Jerry Jansen. The Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMod was a wild and wooly affair as it looked like Austin Becerra would pick up his first local feature win of the season before a last lap tangle with Tony Dunker in turn two changed all that. Gower took the lead on the restart and held off Brandon Lennox to take the feature win followed by Nathan Bringer, Jim Gillenwater and Brandon Dale. The IMCA Mach-1 Sport Compact feature event was a three-way battle between Jeffery DeLonjay, Seith Woodruff and Kimberly Abbott with each taking turns at the lead. Benton County Speedway hosts May 12 opener for IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour

VINTON, Iowa (May 5) – The home track of the IMCA Modified division hosts the first event of the 2015 Hawkeye Dirt Tour next Tuesday, May 12. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds following the sixth annual series race for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start the lidlifter at Benton County Speedway. The main event is a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Four previous tour events have been held at Vinton and the winners of each – Vern Jackson of Waterloo (2011), Jeff Waterman of Quincy, Ill., (2012) Cayden Carter of Oskaloosa (2013) and Richie Gustin of Gilman (2014) have confirmed that they’ll return next week. Five new winners at Hancock County

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (May 2) – There were five new winners at Hancock County Speedway on Saturday, May 2. Nate Hughes grabbed the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified his first win, ahead of Jeremy Mills and Jeff Dolphin. Dan Hanselman took full advantage of his pole start to capture the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car check­ers. Kevin Opheim placed second and Ned Kalis was third. George Nordman crossed the finish line first in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod headliner. Nick Meyer was runner-up and third was Greg Sidles. Drew Barglof bagged the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock win with 10th starting Cody Nielsen and Scott Dobel in tow. Megan Sandvig raced from inside row three to top the Mach-1 Sport Compact main event. Jay DeVries was runner-up and his wife Kaytee finished third.

Winebarger ends night in winner’s circle at Willamette 

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. (May 2) – Collen Winebarger was a man on a mission in Saturday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main event at Willamette Speedway. The Corbett chauffeur got out in front early and took off. Dustin Cady challenged for the lead but spun on the last lap. Winebarger cruised to the win, his second of the season and first at Willamette. Chris Quinn, Jeff Lovell, Brian Cronk and Brett James completed the top five.

Abelson rules Raceway Park Modified main 

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 3) – Sunday’s Total Motors of Akron IMCA Modified feature at Raceway Park ran green from start to finish. Defending champion Chris Abelson took the lead coming to the green flag when the front row cars pushed high coming out of the fourth turn. From that point, Abelson extended his lead to half a lap over the second-place battle which went to Justin Zeitner over Ricky Stephan. Casey Jones started on the pole for the Casey’s General Stores IMCA Stock Car feature and never looked back en route to the victory over Bo Lundquist and Jason Ward. The Skyline Casino IMCA Northern SportMods saw Todd Boulware take the feature win, but not without strong competition from Rusty Montagne and Karl Brewer who finished second and third, respectively. Kilgore wards off Whitman to win 141’s Red, White and Blue

((May 2) – Two past champions played a game of cat and mouse in front of a stellar field to figure out who would take home the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified top prize of $1,000 in Saturday’s Gandrud Chevrolet Red, White and Blue special at 141 Speedway. The man leading the field at the checkered flag was Shawn Kilgore and the man trailing was defend­ing champion Johnny Whitman. Kilgore made quick work of pole starter Brad Theys in the opening corners to start the feature, then worked up top while Whitman used a three-wide pass to make his way to second on the se­cond lap. Kilgore had a five car length lead that Whitman ate up by lap 11. Whitman tried different lines and found bite down low but Kilgore fended him off and then went to the bottom of the track himself. Second straight for Galbreath in IMCA Bay Area Tour 

BLACKMAN, Fla. (May 2) – Justin Galbreath raced from sixth starting to collect his second straight Bay Area Emerald Coast Tour triumph Saturday at Northwest Florida Speedway. Galbreath took the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified checkers ahead of Jason Barnhill, who had worked his way back through the field after contact with another car on a late restart left him with a flat tire. Ryan Mosley was third in his Modified debut. Jason Lockwood and Dewayne Burchell rounded out the top five.
