Edge goes to Carter in photo finish at Osky

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (April 29) – Cayden Carter was first to the checkers in a three-wide Bud­weiser IMCA Stock Car photo finish Wednesday at Southern Iowa Speedway. A late caution set the stage for the green, white, checkered ending. Zack VanderBeek was a very close second and Nathan Wood was right behind in third. Daniel Hilsabeck and VanderBeek had battled for the early lead while Wood and Carter jousted for third. VanderBeek grabbed the top spot on lap 10 and Carter and Wood got by Hilsabeck for second and third place, respectively, on lap 11. That’s where it really got exciting as VanderBeek, Carter and Wood got into a three-car battle. Andrew Schroeder earned the Musco Lighting IMCA Modified win ahead of Carter. Ashley returns to Cottage Grove on Fan Appreciation Night 

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds make their return to Cottage Grove Speedway this Saturday, May 2 for Fan Appreciation Night presented by Huddle Automo­tive Repair. One of the drivers who will be shredding the clay at the 1/4-mile clay oval will be Jasper’s Eric Ashley. Willamette fights hunger this Saturday

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. – Fans bringing a can of non-perishable food to the track on Saturday, May 2 for Fight Hunger Night at Willamette Speedway receive a $2 discount off their cost of grandstand admission Along with IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, classes racing that evening will be the Super Dirt Late Models, Sportsman and Street Stocks. Dustin Cady picked up the win in the first IMCA Modified race of the season last Saturday after a late-race move around Bricen James. Cady is on a streak of two straight wins, going back to the last race of 2014. Pit gates open at 1 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Racing starts at 6 p.m.

Genesis Racing Shocks gives contingencies in four IMCA divisions 

ROSWELL, Ga. – Genesis Racing Shocks will give contingency awards to drivers in four IMCA divisions for a seventh consecutive season. Top eligible drivers in each of the five IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified regions and in national IMCA Late Model, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod standings each receive $350 product certificates from the Roswell, Ga., company. Certificates valued at $250 go to each runner-up and at $150 to each third-place finisher. Drivers in all four divisions must compete with four Genesis-manufactured shocks, display two Genesis decals on their race car and return a signup form to the IMCA home office by Aug. 1 to be eligible. Weekly racing resumes Sunday at Seymour

By Dave Panske SEYMOUR, Wis. – Weekly racing action resumes Sunday night, May 3 at Seymour  Speedway. All five divisions will be in action on the 1/3-mile banked clay oval. Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Coors Light IMCA Stock Cars, O’Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Northern SportMods, Turbo Blue Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders will be joined by the spectator eliminators for the first time this season. Shiocton Automotive and DA Swamp are title sponsors for the activities. WAPL 105.7 will also be at the track doing a live remote from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. with racing at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

IMCA Modifieds race for $650 to win at Sunset Speedway Park

The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds will be back after a week off and race for $650 to win. Sunday show at Quad City Speedway next for Deery Series

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (April 28) – Quad City Speedway’s Hershel Roberts Memorial is next on the Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule. The Sunday, May 3 IMCA Late Model tour event at East Moline pays $3,000 to win and a mini­mum of $300 to start. This is the fifth annual Roberts Memorial, held in honor of the long-time driver, car owner and Quad City Speedway Hall of Famer. Ray Guss Jr. of Milan drove for Roberts and won the 2011, 2012 and 2013 events. Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, topped the Roberts Memorial last May, earning a victory that helped propel him to the 2014 tour title. In all, 16 previous Deery Series events have been held at Quad City Speedway since 1990. The only other multiple feature winner has been Rob Toland, in 1998 and 2004. WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – An elite field is guaranteed on night one of the biggest weekend on the 2015 Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule. The Ironman Challenge, sponsored by Ideal Ready Mix, pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start Friday, Sept. 4 during the Liberty 100 at West Liberty Raceway. Only drivers with perfect attendance through the first 14 IMCA Late Model tour events of the season and former series champions will make the starting grid. National points leader notches another win at Antioch

ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 25) – National points leader Fred Ryland posted his 12th Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod win of the season Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Ryland passed his wife Patti, and Chuck Golden after a seventh lap restart. Golden maintained second as Paul Mulder worked his way up to third before the finish. Patti Ryland and Al Sotomayor comprised the rest of top five. “The engine was just not running right in the heat race,” Ryland said in victory lane. “Our crew got the problem fixed just in time for the feature.”

Hancock County checkers fly for Ruter

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (April 25) – Ryan Ruter earned IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified win number three on the season Saturday at Hancock County Speedway. Troy Swearingen took second and Adam Larson was third. One hundred and nineteen cars filled the pits at Britt, among them 30 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, 25 Modifieds and 25 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Dustin Larson made the journey from Worthington, Minn., worthwhile by taking the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers.  Kevin Opheim was the runner-up and David Wickman was third. Clay Evans won the Northern SportMod main event, topping Greg Sidles and Nick Meyer. Justin Nehring won the Hobby Stock feature followed by Cody Nielsen and Jeremy Wegner. Kaytee DeVries edged out husband Jay for the win in the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature. Jacob Kofoot ended up third.
