34 Raceway car show, kick off party March 15-16

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – 34 Raceway is gearing up for its 2014 season with the annual Midwest Performance & Power Westland Mall two-day car show and the Roederer’s kickoff party Saturday, March 15 and Sunday March 16. Racers in all divisions taking to the track this season will have their cars on display at Westland Mall during regular mall hours both days. Saturday night, March 15 will be the Roederer’s 2014 Season kickoff party starting at 6 p.m. There will be prizes, food and drinks and fun. The 2014 lidlifter is Saturday, March 29 with the Brockway Mechanical Sprint Invaders season opener. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods new to BST Tour

By Joe Bellm HOLYOKE, Colo. – The 2014 Modified, Stock Car and Northern SportMod tours are pleased to announce three title sponsors, Precise Racing Products with the Modifieds, and new additions of Addiction Chassis for Stock Cars, and long-standing supporter Leary Racing Products for the inaugural Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod Tour. This year’s tour consists of four weekend stops consisting of ten races; with a best of nine out of 10 format which allows all participants to race their local weekly racing series as well as the BST Tour without any conflicts. The season will start April 12 and 13 for the Phillips County Raceway and I-76 Speedway Ice Breaker Classic. First practice at Dodge City Raceway Park is April 5

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (March 6) – It’s drawing ever closer as Dodge City Raceway Park is set to fire to life just 30 days from now with an open practice session on Saturday, April 5. The open practice will be from 5-8 p.m. with pit passes $10 and admission to the grandstands free. The session precedes an exciting season of racing action atop the 3/8-mile clay oval that ranks among the premier dirt tracks in the nation. (March 5) – Wednesday was a night of firsts for R.C. Whitwell on the half-mile Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Whitwell topped the first of four qualifying heats, then led all 25 laps of the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature on opening night of the FVP Outlaw Showdown. The Arizona native and recent California transplant took the $750 checkers in his first night out in the Bill Henderson-owned Victory Circle ride. Cottage Grove Speedway schedule full of action from start to finish

With 32 scheduled events, fans will have plenty of opportunities to see the area’s best racing every Saturday night from April through Septem­ber. Beatrice Spring Nationals postponed to March 21, 22

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 4) – Chalk up another early-season postponement due to too much winter and not enough spring. Spring Nationals at Beatrice Speedway will now be Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22. The 21st annual special had originally been scheduled for March 14-15 The rescheduled program sports five sanctioned divisions, headlined by IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds in $2,000 to win, minimum $200 to start Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying features both nights. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both race for $500 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $400 to win each night. Minimum start money is $75. Mach-1 Sport Compacts run for $200 to win on Saturday. Practice sessions return to Willamette Speedway

(March 4) – For years, Friday nights at Willamette Speedway mostly meant a chance for drivers to shake down their car before the big race on Saturday, to fine tune their machines and troubleshoot any hiccups their mounts were giving them. Open practices are back on select dates at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval in 2014 after a couple years’ hiatus. “After not having practices for the last couple years, drivers started giving us feedback,” commented Track Manager Chris Nofziger. “They told us that they felt they would be more competitive if there was a night or two during the year where they could come out and just figure stuff out. Eagle Motorsports returns in title sponsorship role for IMCA RaceSaver Sprints

LINCOLN, Neb. (March 3) – Eagle Motorsports returns for a second season as title sponsor of the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car division. The Lincoln, Neb., sprint car chassis manufacturer and high performance parts retailer again furnishes a portion of the $2,600 point fund to be paid to top 10 drivers in national point standings for the winged class. IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars ran in Texas, Minnesota, Nebraska and Virginia last year. New sanctions in Iowa and Colorado have already been announced for 2014. Drivers must display two Eagle Motorsports decals on their race car to be eligible for point fund money.
