I felt like we had been in position to win some of these races and I’ve let them get away. It’s nice to be able to put it all together.” Coming off back-to-back wins in weekly shows at Buena Vista Raceway and Benton County Speedway, the eighth starting Dripps was already up to second when pole starter Ricky Thornton Jr. broke early and pulled into the infield. Josh Pruitt repeats Stock Car Shootout checkers at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 26) – If the script from Sunday’s Stew Hansen Dodge Stock Car Shootout at Stuart Speedway sounded familiar, it’s because you saw it played out last season, too. Josh Pruitt borrowed his father Terry’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, won the main event and took home $1,000 for the second straight year. Mike Harris and Pruitt pulled the first two chips out of the bucket and led the field to green. Pruitt held the top spot early over Harris and Damon Murty. Murty moved to second on lap five and set his sights on the lead, but a flat tire on lap 10 ended his night and turned over second to Marcus Fagan. Fagan stayed zeroed in on Pruitt until the yellow flew on lap 19. The cars bunched up for the final restart of the night, and while everyone was doing the chasing, Pruitt set sail to take his second straight Shootout by nearly half a straightaway. Terry Klocke finished second with Jay Schmidt third, Fagan fourth and Todd [Read More]

Northern SportMod checkers fly for Albrecht at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 25) – John Albrecht led the entire Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod feature Saturday at Arlington Raceway. Tim Bergerson passed Jeremy Brown to take second and Tony Rialson was fourth. Ryan Bryant won his first feature of the year in the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compacts. He led from start to finish in the caution-free race with Jed Trebelhorn following and Alan Lahr a close third. Mike Vogt was the early leader in the Premier Logistics IMCA Hobby feature but two caution flags in the first two laps gave Cory Probst extra leverage to get to the front of the pack. By lap three, he was leading the race with Brad Becker moving forward to take second. Third went to Vogt. Brandon Allen started on pole of the 95.7 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car race and that is where he stayed for the distance. Completing the top three [Read More]

Behind Maine and Jackson, Andrew Harris and Tracy Raml rounded out the top four. The CarQuest IMCA Hobby Stock division also saw a first-time winner when Steven Pierce made perseverance pay by holding off most of the field from his front row starting position. Olmstead holds off Lexington challengers

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 26) – Racing action was fast-paced with multiple grooves being used at Lexington Raceway Sunday evening. Piloting their racers to the winner’s circle were Colton Osborn, Denny Egge, Mike Nichols and Jacob Olmstead. There was a neck-and-neck battle over the final laps between Jacob Wolsleben and Olmstead. Heavy contact between the duo during the white flag lap brought out the caution and resulted in a dash for the feature win and Wolsleben was forced to change a flat tire to rejoin the field. Olmstead grabbed the lead on the 10th lap restart and held off all challengers for the win. Brady Weinman worked his way into second while Luke Wassom rallied for third. Competition was fierce for the lead position for much of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature with the lead being exchanged five times.  Osborn, driving his ‘Back in Black’ rocketship, took the lead for good on the ninth lap and cruised to the victory. Larson teaches high side clinic in Shawano’s Fury at the Fairgrounds

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (June 26) – Jeff Larson was the first car to hit the track for hot laps Saturday at Shawano Speedway and it paid dividends for the Illinois racer. Larson won the third leg of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified Cheesehead Triple Crown and left the track with $5,000, a huge trophy thanks to the Kim Parsons Memorial Trophy Tour and a spot on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Larson and Jerry Wilinski raced wheel-to-wheel following the initial green with Wilinski holding the slightest of leads. Wilinski continued to lead as Larson ran right near the wall trying to gain an advantage.  What would be the final caution of the 30-lap feature flew after lap five. As the race went back to green, Larson again tiptoed along the wall and took the lead from Wilinski. Larson then put on a clinic on how to race inches away from the wall as Wilinski battled Kelly Shryock for second and Konnor Wilinski, Jerry’s son, battled with Jay Noteboom for fourth. [Read More]
