May 8 new date for Benton County Speedway opener

VINTON, Iowa (May 2, 2022) – The third time will hopefully be the charm to get the weekly racing season underway at Benton County Speedway. The first two attempts at a season opener were washed out by Mother Nature, leaving the twice-delayed event now scheduled for this Sunday, May 8. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by 96.5 KISS Country, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by Kwik Star, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company, Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts and Legends.Direct Legends are scheduled for the Sunday event. Both grandstand and pits will open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled of 5:30 with the first race set to go green at 6.Grandstand admission is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors and veterans, and $5 for kids ages 6-14. Whitmire is Saturday winner at I-37

Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (April 30, 2022) – After a two week hiatus, it was time to fire up the engines on the ¼ mile semi-banked I-37 Speedway dirt oval Saturday and Tanner Whitmire was back in victory lane after a lengthy hiatus of his own. At the start of the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main it was Rick Green with the lead chased by Jared Maupin, Whitmire, Ryan Doyon and Chris Morris. Robert Liese spun to infield and collected Marlin Samford as he tried to pull back on track. On the restart, Maupin tried the high side on Green with Whitmire looking to go three-wide for the lead. Whitmire took second and began to look low on Green while Morris got by Maupin for third. Whitmire then tried the high side on Green and got a good run down the back stretch, taking the point on lap nine. ‘Bullet’ Bill Rice tops the Mountain

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (April 30, 2022) – Bill Rice held off a charging Caleb Harris for his first Virginia Sprint Series win of the year, where the mountain roars, Shenandoah Speedway. Jerald Harris won the trophy dash before it was off to the Saturday IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature. Rice and Harris paced to green with Rice out first but by lap two Bill Mullis got by for the lead. All was good up front until lap seven when Mullis ended his night against the turn three fence after contact. Rice took off again and held off a fast closing Caleb Harris at the line. At the strip it was Rice, Caleb Harris, and French Grimes. The Virginia Sprint Series will next head to Dixieland Speedway in Elizabeth City, N.C,. on Friday, May 13 for the first Fast Friday race of the year.

$3,000 is top prize at I-30’s IMCA STARS Mod Lite Short Track Nationals

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 2, 2022) – IMCA STARS Mod Lites run for shares of a galaxy-sized purse at their Short Track Nationals May 6 and 7 at I-30 Speedway. Winner of the fourth annual event, presented by Bumper to Bumper and sanctioned by IMCA for the first time, earns $3,000 with a minimum of $300 paid to start the feature. Top three finishers in Friday night heat races earn $50, $30 and $20, respectively, with winners advancing to the main event grid. Last-chance qualifying races and the feature are on Saturday. Non-qualifier pay is $150. Yoshimura bonuses of $250, $150 and $100 will be paid to the top three finishing eligible drivers. Cocopah Speedway hosts Corning Memorial this weekend

SOMERTON, Ariz. (May 2, 2022) – A track champion and long-time IMCA driver will be remembered this Saturday, May 7 at Cocopah Speedway’s third annual Mike Corning Memorial. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds race for $1,044 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility that evening. The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature pays $544 to win, the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature $344 and the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature $244. Pit passes are $35. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 29, 2022) – Four IMCA divisions are on the Thursday night card for the fifth annual Dale DeFrance Memorial at Karl Auto Group Marshalltown Speedway. Ward dominant at Stuart’s Stevens Memorial

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (April 27, 2022) – One hundred and twenty-eight cars were in attendance for the regular season opener at Karl Chevrolet of Stuart International Speedway and racers from all around were on hand to honor Tim and Tammy Stevens, an unforgettable driver/race official duo who have both passed on in recent years. IMCA feature winners for the night were Tyler Fiebelkorn, Brayton Carter, Buck Schafroth, Brandon Cox and Tim Ward. Ward and Dennis Pittman led the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds out for the nightcap with Ward taking control early. (April 28, 2022) – Despite a less than ideal weekend forecast, Park Jefferson International Speedway is still planning on forging ahead with the 2022 Iron Cup on South Dakota’s fastest quarter-mile dirt tracks from Thursday, April 28, through Saturday, April 30. The weekend schedule includes a practice night tonight (Thursday) with qualifying for the J&J Fitting Iron Cup in Friesen Performance IMCA Modified, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact divisions on Friday. The Iron Cup Championship Night in all divisions is Saturday. Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6 p.m. each evening.
