281 Speedway starts new season with IMCA Big Chill Throwdown special

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Four IMCA divisions are on the card for both nights of 281 Speedway’s season-open­ing Big Chill Throwdown.  IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Smi­ley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts will be featured in Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8 and 9 shows.  Modifieds race for $600 to win, Stock Cars and  Southern SportMods both for $500 and Sport Compacts for $200 each night. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, re­gional, Texas State and track points will be awarded both nights. There is no entry fee.  Pits open at noon on Friday with check-in running from 5 p.m. until the 7:15 p.m. drivers’ meeting. The grand­stand opens at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the pit area opens at 8 a.m. and check-in runs from 4 p.m. until the 6:15 p.m. drivers’ meeting. Fast Shafts qualifier slated Feb. 27 at LVMS Dirt Track

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and a berth on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot at their Wednesday, Feb. 27 show at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s half-mile Dirt Track. The feature pays a minimum of $75 to start with $50 paid to non-qualifiers. Entry fee is $25. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Rac­ing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region and Nevada State points will be awarded. RACE­ceivers and transponders are required. World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and USAC Sprint Cars are also on the mid-week card. Center scores Sunday SportMod, Stock Car checkers at Canyon’s IMCA Winter Challenge

PEORIA, Ariz. (Jan. 26-27) – After a forgettable opening night, Cody Center had a Sunday to remem­ber Sunday at Canyon Speedway Park’s Winter Challenge Series.  A DNS in Saturday’s main event following two early tangles with another car in his heat race, Cen­ter started last but still earned his career-first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature win in the second day show at Peoria. He followed with the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers, winning two main events on the same program for the first time.  “There were so many emotions after the SportMod win. IMCA Modified, SportMod drivers chasing Bob Harris Enterprises special event awards

AMES, Iowa – Special events drivers in three IMCA divisions are in the running again this season for awards from Bob Harris Enterprises. Harris, of Ames, Iowa, will give two free shock rebuilds to a top five finisher at each of 30 IMCA Modified specials, and at 15 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod specials.  A drawing will be held following the regular point season to award Race Tech Info Dirt Chassis School packages to one Modified driver and one SportMod driver. IMCA Late Models gain new Thursday home at Nebraska’s U.S. 30 Speedway

COLUMBUS, Neb. – Another sanctioned division has joined weekly race programs at one of the longest IMCA tenured tracks in Nebraska.  U.S. 30 Speedway presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts adds the IMCA Late Model division to its regular Thursday shows. The 1/3-mile clay oval at Columbus is one of four newly sanctioned tracks in eastern Nebraska.  “We sat down with officials from the other tracks and agreed to go with the same set of rules,” explained Bobby Lincoln, co-promoter at U.S. 30 with his wife Janelle. “It made sense to go with IMCA. We were already sanctioned by them for everything else.”  “The sanction gives Late Model drivers the opportunity to race for national and state points and point fund shares,” he added. “It’s a way we can give back to them more.” Opening night at Columbus is set for April 18. New-look logo created for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing

VINTON, Iowa – New season, new look.  The new IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing logo was unveiled today. Incorporating the new Speedway Motors logo with the familiar red IMCA logo, it will appear on decals to be mailed in 2019 drivers’ packets for all eight divisions. The new logo will also accompany many of the releases posted on the IMCA website and published in the IMCA newsletter. “We have released the new weekly racing logo in conjunction with Speedway Motors’ rebranding,” said IMCA President Brett Root. “We’ve had a great partnership with Speedway Motors and we look forward to continuing that relationship for many more years.”  Speedway Motors is the longest tenured IMCA sponsor, as part of a business partnership that dates to the 1950s. Junction Motor Speedway adding IMCA Late Models, Stock Cars to Saturday shows

McCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. – IMCA Late Models and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will be new to Saturday night programs this season at Junction Motor Speedway. They’ll become the fifth and sixth divisions, respectively, sanctioned by IMCA at McCool Junction.  Promoter Delmar Friesen noted he’d gotten positive input from drivers in both divisions about the possibility of sanctioning. IMCA Late Models last ran weekly in Nebraska in 2004.  “It’s great to have them back.
