Trenchard wins Wild One at Yreka

(June 23) – Siskiyou Motor Speedway hosted opening night of the Wild West Modified Shootout for the first time and Nick Trenchard was on top of his game from start to finish of the Friday night feature. Trenchard was the $1,000 IMCA Modified feature winner in a lidlifter contested by 33 entries from California, Oregon, Nevada and Colorado. He grabbed the initial lead after the first two attempts to start the race resulted in cautions. The Klamath Falls, Ore., chauffeur stayed sharp and stayed in front of his challengers following every restart. Kellen Chadwick mounted a late race-charge toward the front. Chadwick got close to the leader in traffic only for another yellow to come out. On the ensuing restart Chadwick went off the top of the backstretch and flipped. Mather scores $1,000 win at West Liberty

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (June 23) – Colt Mather was the $1,000 winner when a strong field of 23 Performance Concepts IMCA Modifieds took to the track Friday at West Liberty Raceway. Defending track champion Chris Zogg took off from the pole to a comfortable lead. As the laps wound down, the sixth starting Mather was able to reel in Zogg. A late-race caution set up a three-lap dash to the finish and Mather overtook Zogg as the leaders completed lap 18. “The race track was perfect tonight, slick and smooth and racy top to bottom,” the new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier said. “It is really great to win tonight in front of the huge crowd.” Zogg was second while 10th starting Kurt Kile ran third ahead of 12th starting Larry Herring. Hurst, Montgomery, Soppe score mid-season wins at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 23) – Mid-Season Championships were on tap Friday night at Davenport Speedway. It was a beautiful night for racing and a great night for a low draw as all classes used a draw/re-draw format. Jeremiah Hurst won his heat race and drew the number one chip for the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model feature. Hurst then used his front row start to lead all 25 laps for his first win at Davenport this year. Matt Ryan, who also started in the front row, closed in on Hurst in traffic but was unable to make a bid for the lead. Following Hurst and Ryan to the checkers was Rob Toland, who started in the fifth row. Andy Nezworski finished fourth and Chuck Hanna fifth in a race that went caution-free. Sprint Series of Oklahoma dates set at Ardmore, Ada this weekend

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – After nearly a one-month hiatus, it’s back to racing for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products as a doubleheader looms this weekend for the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series. It all kicks off tonight (Friday) at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore where three events have been scheduled with Mother Nature winning twice and Wichita Falls, Texas, driver Chad Koch picking up his first feature victory of the season back at the season opener on March 25. On Saturday, June 24, drivers and officials head east to Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada for the first of two scheduled appearances on the 2017 race season. SPENCER, Iowa – One thousand dollars is the top prize for both IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks at Clay County Fair Speedway’s June 26 Monday Night Madness special. The Modified feature is a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods complete the card, running for $500 to win. All IMCA points, including track, will be awarded and there is no entry fee in any division. The Hobby Stock feature is the first of four Summer Speedweek events at area tracks. Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand admission is $15 and pit passes are $25. Another milestone as Anderson wins 300th

DES MOINES, Iowa (June 14) – Another win, another milestone. And Shannon Anderson will tell you this one was the most difficult to achieve. Anderson won for the 300th time in his IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock career Wednesday at Southern Iowa Speedway. That’s the most for any driver in division history and the fourth-highest single division total in IMCA’s modern era. “To win Super Nationals or national championships or 100, 200 or 300 features are all really hard. They’re all big accomplishments,” said Anderson. “Three hundred feature wins has been the hardest. I would never have guess I’d get that many. Skalicky leads every lap of every Northern SportMod Nationals race

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (June 20) – Jesse Skalicky and his crew had been looking for a special or two that didn’t interfere with their regular Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod weekly racing. After leading every lap of every race he was in at Hancock County Speedway’s Northern SportMod Nationals, Skalicky was looking for a place to put his $2,700 in winnings and a very tall trophy for the six-hour tow home to Fargo, N.D. Skalicky had never raced at Britt before Tuesday night but don’t be surprised to see him return soon. He led every lap of his heat race, drew the pole and repeated that flag-to-flag run in the $200 to win dash, then led every circuit in the $2,500 to win main event. “I have never had a night like this. Shelliam sails to Dubuque Speedway victory

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (June 18) – Dan Shelliam took his Rocket chassis to the top side of the smooth track and set sail from his second row start and went on to record a comfortable Out-Pace Racing Late Model feature win over Luke Merfeld and Jeremiah Hurst at Dubuque Speedway. The Merfeld Brothers IMCA Modified feature was a real crowd pleaser as Jed Frieburger turned around a so-so season with a very impressive win in the 20 lap feature event. Freiburger held off Jeff Larson by less than a car length at the finish line. Mark Schulte crossed under the checkers in third. The GSI IMCA Northern SportMods saw first-time winner Jerry Miles capture the 15-lapper. Miles has shown great improvement early in the season and has established himself as a frontrunner in the very tough SportMod class. Friday will be a beach at Lee County

DONNELLSON, Iowa – This Friday night, June 23 is “Beach Night” at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. Anyone fan wearing only a swimming suit gets into the grandstand for half price. You are welcome to bring towels, extra clothes or sandals, and whatever you would bring to the beach. We are going to attempt to make a giant water slide in victory lane. All ages will be allowed to participate as long as a waiver is signed. Kids must have parents present to sign. All drivers and significant others also bring your swimming suit as we will have a contest who goes the farthest. This will be a night of fun and laughs. Who is ready to slip and slide on Friday night? Which driver will go the farthest?
