VINTON, Iowa (May 28) – Hunter Marriott was the best in a field of 48 IMCA Modifieds Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. The weekly program served as a prelude to Monday’s season opener for the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour in Vinton. After redrawing the number two pill, Marriott quickly pulled away from Scott Hogan at the start of the 30-lapper. A pair of mid-race cautions didn’t slow the leader as Marriott built a larger advantage following each stoppage. In the end, Marriott took the checkers over a straightaway ahead of Richie Gustin and Jimmy Gustin. Both Gustins and J.D. Auringer worked the low side past Scott Hogan late to complete the top four. Marriott, already on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, earned $2,000 for his win. ANKENY, Iowa – The Official Convenience Store of IMCA marks its fifth season of sponsorship in 2017, continuing invaluable support of Super Nationals and the Deery Brothers Summer Series. Casey’s General Store continues its presenting sponsor role for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals, scheduled Sept. 4-9 at Boone Speedway. Casey’s also returns as title sponsor for the redraw at each IMCA Late Model tour main event. The 2017 season is the second in the latest three-year partnership agreement between Casey’s and IMCA. Casey’s and IMCA both donate $10 to Hope for the Warriors on behalf of each heat winner during the week of Super Nationals. DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 26) – The IMCA Modified Madness 50 special, scheduled for tonight (Friday) at Davenport Speedway, has been rained out for a second time. The event has now been rescheduled for Friday, July 14. Next Friday, June 2, weekly point racing returns to Davenport Speedway. All four classes will be in action, the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models, Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modifieds, Koehler Electric Street Stocks and the Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMods. In addition, that evening is the first Kids’ Night of 2017. Children under the age of 12 are admitted free when accompanying a paid adult. Bike races will be held during intermission. Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport. By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (May 24) – Cayden Carter was a double winner Wednesday night at Southern Iowa Speedway, topping features for the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds and the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars. The third different leader in the Modified main, Carter held off Derrick Stewart in a green, white, checkered finish. His last-lap surge allowed Carter to edge Nathan Wood at the line for his first local win in the Stock Car class. Shannon Anderson held off Bill Bonnett for his third win in as many KBOE Radio/Mahaska Bottling IMCA Hobby Stock outings this season and Daniel Fellows became a three-time Kelli Steil State Farm IMCA Sport Compact feature winner. Curtis VanDerWal scored Oskaloosa True Value IMCA Northern SportMod win number two on the season. A total of 113 cars checked in at Osky.
LONGDALE, Okla. (May 20) – Angel Munoz outlasted seventh-starting Jason Rogers to capture the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event Saturday at Longdale Speedway. Kyle Pfeifer placed third, Travis Baird fourth and Hesston Shaw fifth. Robert Elliott garnered the IMCA SportMod feature win while Joe Adams advanced from eighth starting to second. Mike Roach raced from ninth to third. Jeffrey Kaup scored a fourth-place finish and Kaleb Roach was fifth. Both IMCA features were 35-lappers.
HESSTON, Pa. (May 20) – Ron Aurand was the Saturday night winner when the Laurel Highlands Sprint Series ventured to Hesston Speedway. Runner-up in the 20-lapper for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars was Nathan Gramley and Drew Ritchey was third. Aurand and Reed Thompson drew front row starts and Aurand set the fast pace with Thompson close behind. Within a few laps, Scott Lutz moved into second with Gramley, Ritchey and Steve Kenawell Jr. settling in behind him. Gramley had taken over second before the only caution of the race came on lap 16. When the green came out again, Aurand took off and took the win with Gramley, Ritchey, Lutz and Kenawell in tow. EUNICE, N.M. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars get top billing at Cardinal Speedway’s Kelly Sheen Memorial Shootout, which moves to the Memorial Day Weekend for its eighth annual run. Qualifying starts on Saturday, May 27 at the Eunice, N.M., speedplant. Twenty-five lap main events on Sunday, May 28 sport top checks of $2,000 for the Stocks, $1,200 for the IMCA Modifieds, $800 for the Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods and $500 for the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. All IMCA feature winners receive a 55-gallon drum of fuel in addition to their cash winnings and $100 will be paid to the hard charger in each division. DAVENPORT, Iowa – Due to last week’s rainout, Davenport Speedway has rescheduled the IMCA Modified Madness 50 for this Friday, May 26. Top IMCA Modified drivers from Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin, will be racing for the $2,000 prize and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth that awaits the winner of the main event. This is the seventh straight year DRT TRAK Racing Inc. has offered a $2,000 to win race for the Modifieds. The IMCA Modified Madness 50 has yet to see a repeat winner. Last year, 49 Modified drivers representing four states took part in the race. Kyle Brown of Madrid is the defending winner. IMCA Modifieds will use a draw/redraw format for the event.
