Farley Speedway to host race car show

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa – This Saturday, March 25, Farley Speedway will host the annual pre-season race car show inside the Palace Ballroom located on the speedway grounds in Farley. The show will begin at 11 a.m. and will be free of charge to all attendees. Fans are encouraged to bring the kids as the Farley Speedway Kids Club will be hosting an Easter egg hunt inside the Palace Ballroom. Drivers will be allowed to bring their cars on Friday night until 8 p.m. or Saturday morning after 8 a.m. and prior to 10 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to the best appearing, Modified, Full Bodied Car and a Best of Show will also be awarded. Aero Race Wheels begins third decade as IMCA sponsor

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – Aero Race Wheels begins its third decade of IMCA sponsorship by renewing an awards program rewarding drivers in five divisions. The Estherville, Iowa, manufacturer also begins its second decade as title sponsor of the popular feature win decal program. Forty dollar product certificates, applicable toward the purchase of two wheels, go to designated place finishers at 80 special events for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods. IMCA Modifieds headline Tri-State Speedway’s 38th annual Kegger

POCOLA, Okla. – Top prize for IMCA Modifieds is $1,500 at Tri-State Speedway’s 38th annual Cecil Harlan Memorial Kegger Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25. The 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier pays a minimum of $200 to start. NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader will be among the competitors this weekend at Pocola. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region and Allstar State points, but no local track points, will be given. Menasco Racing Enterprises gives a $500 bonus to the driver making the long tow. Entry fee is $100. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps both days. Adult grandstand admission is $10 on Friday and $12 on Saturday; kids ages 6-12 get in for $5 each night. Pit passes are $30 on Friday and $35 on Saturday. RPM’s 5th annual Sunflower Classic features five IMCA divisions

HAYS, Kan. – Five IMCA divisions are on the weekend card when RPM Speedway opens the 2017 season with its fifth annual Sunflower Classic special this Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win each night and both features are qualifying events for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Also running both nights are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $750 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both for $500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts run for $200 to win. Green picks up first Cotton Bowl IMCA Modified win

Hallas PAIGE, Texas (March 18) – Kevin Green took top honors in Saturday’s IMCA Modified main dedicating his first Cotton Bowl win to Harvey Cox, a long-time supporter of the Green family racing. Green got the lead coming off turn two, then went green to checkers using two different lines on each end to put some distance on Eric Tomlinson at the finish. “Mission accomplished,” exclaimed Green afterwards. “This was one mission I had this year, to get a Modified win here. We’ve run some here in the Modified and the SportMod, but never a full season. We even had a few SportMod wins, but this is our first Modified win.” “We lost Harvey Cox over the off season, but we’re still racing for him,” Green continued. “He’d done so much for us over the years with my dad. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint checkers fly at Sabine for Harris

SABINE, La. (March 18) – A late-race restart opened the door for Jacob Harris Saturday at Sabine Motor Speedway. Harris led the last three laps in winning his career-first IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature in the season-opener for the winged division in Louisiana. Johnny Brown and Harris paced the field to green with Brown taking the early over Josh Hawkins and Harris. A late caution waved for a crash between Josh McCord and Tyler Harris; Brown and Hawkins made contact on the exit of turn two, sending Brown off the racing surface while Hawkins sustained a left rear flat. Baca continues hot streak

By Tony Steele PEORIZ, Ariz. (March 18) – Chaz Baca Jr. took home his third win in four events at Canyon Speedway Park Saturday night in the Mark Stewart owned no. 59 IMCA Modified. Baca continued to flex his muscles as he took his third win and fourth top two in the past four events he has entered at CSP. Baca was runner-up to Guy Norton on the first night of the Shamrock Showcase doubleheader before powering his way to victory on night number two. John Parmeley led during the first half of the race and seemed to be the car to beat while Baca began to maneuver his way through traffic from the 10th starting spot. Once Baca found himself in second it looked like he wouldn’t quite have the power to get around Parmeley until the leader slipped up in the middle of turns one and two, allowing Baca to make his way by on the inside. Norton leads wire to wire to open Shamrock Showcase

(March 17) – Guy Norton rebounded from a rough winter season to take home a victory, leading from the drop of the green in the IMCA Modified feature Friday at Canyon Speedway Park’s Shamrock Showcase. After a rough outing one week ago, the division stepped up with the show of the year so far in 2017 at CSP. An early spin in turn three on the first lap of the main event involving Austin Kuehl took out a couple strong cars, including Mike Strobl and Bryson Curry. Once the green flag was displayed a second time, we would see no more cautions as the Modifieds went green to checkers to finish the race. Norton started up front and led all 25 laps en route to a dominating victory. The story of the night may lie with Norton, but the show was the race-long battle for second place with Jason Noll fighting with John Parmeley.
