Double Down Prelude precedes 41st annual MCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 23, 2023) – The second biggest event in all of dirt track racing just got twice as good. The ninth annual Wild Rose Casino Prelude Sept. 2 and 3 at Boone Speedway has rebranded to become the inaugural Double Down Prelude, with double features for any division with more than 100 cars competing. “We expect to surpass last year’s Prelude record number of 632 cars but still want to make Saturday and Sunday programs more efficient,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “Qualifying will be similar to the format we use for the Modifieds and Stock Cars during Super Nationals, with more cars qualifying from heats to features or ‘B’ races.” Both Friesen Performance IMCA Modified features will pay $1,500 to win and both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car features $1,000 to win on Saturday; Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod features Sunday pay $750 to win. Two $250 to win features for Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts will be held on Saturday, two $400 to win features for IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks on Sunday if their [Read More]

First Washington entry getting back on track at Super Nationals

PUYALLUP, Wash. – Nine years after his last race, Will Taylor became the first Washington State driver to register for the 41st annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. An Arkansas native and traveling respiratory therapist by profession, Taylor is now working out of Puyallup. He’ll make the trip to Boone Speedway via Batesville, where Kevin Shaw is getting his 2005 Shaw ride race-ready. “This was a track championship winning car for Shawn Walsh,” said Taylor. “I’m hoping some of his good luck rubs off on me.” The upcoming Super Nationals are a bucket list race for Taylor, a proud member of the Shaw racing family and three-time spectator at America’s Racin’ Vacation, most recently in 2019. “I’ve been a part-time racer. I have no sponsors. I’ve raced when I could and picked up another shift when I needed to pay for it,” he said. “I want to finish my races at Boone, not go out on the wrecker and take the car home in one piece.” Taylor grew up going to races every weekend, [Read More]

Big Dance at Boone is ultimate goal for Yeager

GREEN RIVER, Wy. – Making the Saturday show at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s? That’d be great, says Braxton Yeager. Your dad and brother making the Big Dance, too? Even better. The Yeager clan from Green River, Wy., will be fully-represented at the 41st annual Super Nationals, with 22-year-old Braxton joined by younger brother Bryson and father Justen at Boone Speedway. “I’ve raced at Super Nationals once before (in 2019) and it was pretty awesome,” said Braxton, in the midst of a Midwest racing swing with Bryson along as crew chief. “The number of cars, all the people and the track itself … it was all bigger than anything I’d ever been part of.” Now in his eighth Modified season, Yeager has won track titles at home track Sweetwater Speedway two of the last three years. He began the 2023 season in Arizona and U-turned in the spring for King of the Highbanks shows at Marshalltown Speedway. He won all four of his June starts, sweeping weekend doubleheaders at Millard County Raceway [Read More]

Keeler looks to build IMCA resume with start in Saturday’s Big Dance at Super Nationals

FARMINGTON, N.M (Aug. 9, 2023) – She’s proven herself at tracks closer to home for close to a quarter century. Next, Julie Keeler looks to do the same on the biggest stage in IMCA and in all of dirt track racing. The veteran from Farmington, N.M., brings her Friesen Performance to Boone for the first time in September, looking to race her way into Saturday’s Big Dance at the 41st annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. “Definitely, a spot in the main event is what I’m racing for,” said Keeler. “With the caliber of competition in the Northern SportMods, making the main event would be a victory for me.” “It would be number one on my list of everything I’ve done in racing,” she continued. ”Then I’d have to back it up next year to prove it wasn’t a fluke.” A former Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMod state champion in both New Mexico and Colorado, Keeler was runner-up in national standings for that division in 2014. She’s looking to repeat as track [Read More]
