Qualifying checkers fly for Anderson

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 3, 2024) – Logan Anderson went to the top and hammered it. As a result, he’ll be starting on the front of the outside row in the Saturday night championship event for Northern SportMods at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Anderson led all 25 laps of his Tuesday night qualifier despite the very best efforts of Dylan VanWyk, who’d started 15th and ran second the last 10 circuits. VanWyk had pulled alongside late but couldn’t  keep up the two times around following a late caution. “I went to the top, hammered it and told myself if he passes me, he passes me, I’ll be second,” Anderson said. “It worked out in our favor. It’s awesome, after winning the Prelude (on Sunday).” Joining Anderson and VanWyk on the outside row will be fellow top eight runners Cam Reimers, Alec Fett, Geoff Olson, Justin Addison, Will Wolf and Randy Havlik, promoted following the post-race disqualification of Cody Center. Reimers had started 23rd, Fett 19th and Addison 20th. Last-chance qualifying Wednesday at Boone Speedway [Read More]

Kohl, Smith are winners while Burg puts on Hobby Stock show

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 3, 2024) – Jason Kohl and Mike Smith won the qualifying features and front row starting spots that come with them while Keith Burg was the show Tuesday night at Boone Speedway. Kohl’s win in the first Hobby Stock qualifier puts him at the front of the middle row in Saturday’s main event at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Two-time and defending champion Smith topped the nightcap and will start on the front of the outside row. After his father and pole starter Andrew was the first car out of the first qualifier, Burg was a man on a mission, racing from 30th … dead last … all the way up to second with just three laps left. Kohl, who had inherited the lead around midway after Adam Streeter exited with a flat tire, had his hands full staying in front following a late restart. Burg was ahead coming out of turn two on the white flag lap but Kohl found a little extra speed and got to the [Read More]

All these guys are really good … I was rolling out there where I went and if they got me, they got me,” said Sachau. “It just worked out really good for us.” 2018 race winner Fett finished just over a tenth of a second off Sachau’s pace after starting fifth.  Alec Fett was third, Brayton Carter fourth and Coy Vlies fifth. “I tried a little something to see what we could do for Saturday and it wasn’t the best,” said Sachau, aiming to repeat his 2023 sweep of the race of champions and IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s main event. “We’ll go back to what we had last night (in qualifying) when we were [Read More]

Family is focus following Chandler’s run to Sport Compact crown

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 3, 2024) – The family that celebrated when Sport Compacts made their first-ever appearance at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s got to celebrate again Tuesday night. Brad Chandler made the most of a restart with five laps to go, motoring from third to the lead and ultimately the $1,250 checkers in the 4-cylinder headliner at Boone Speedway. “This means a lot to my family,” said Chandler, runner-up to brother Nathan when the division debuted at Super Nationals in 2011, a race that also saw brother Dallas finish fifth and father Merv end in 10th. “I took a couple years off. I’d finished second twice or third the next couple years and never thought I’d come back and be able to win here,” Chandler said, emphasizing his family’s support on and off the track. “It takes a lot of people to be able to do that.” 2016 champion Josh Barnes, long-time race leader Mick Rykhus and early leader Randall Martin completed the Tuesday podium. Probst prevails in Stephenville Starter RoC

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 3, 2024) – Prelude winner Cory Probst knew all about the talent he’d be racing against in the Stephenville Starter Race of Champions. Then he went out and beat those cars, leading start to finish of the 12-lap Hobby Stock RoC Tuesday during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s show at Boone Speedway. Probst drew the outside pole start and had Nathan Ballard on his back bumper or right alongside when every one of those dozen laps was scored. “Ballard is one hell of a driver. This was a great field of drivers and I was lucky enough to hold them off,” said Probst, who’d enjoyed a dose of Boone success topping the second of two Prelude features for the Hobby Stocks on Sunday. “You never take anything for granted here. It was until I got straight out of the (last set of turns) I thought I was set.” His margin of victory in the caution-free contest was all of three tenths of a second.
