Anderson streaks, repeats at IMCA Landus SportMod Nationals

BRITT, Iowa (June 12, 2023) – So much for the slow start to his season. Logan Anderson led 29 of 30 laps in repeating as winner of the Landus IMCA Northern SportMod Nationals at Hancock County Speedway, outrunning Matthew Looft and Colby Fett and earning $2,500 for his Monday night efforts. The Eddyville hot shoe is now 2-for-2 in his Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod career outings at Britt. He’d been winless in 16 sanctioned starts before winning Saturday at 34 Raceway, Sunday at Benton County Speedway and then last night at Hancock County. “It’s about a three hour trip so it feels good to go up there, have a good race and beat a lot of good cars,” Anderson said. “We have struggled this year so it feels good to start picking up the wins. Once they start to come, you get your confidence back.” Anderson drew the outside pole start for the 25-lapper and took charge from the initial green flag, catching up with the back of the field just eight circuits in [Read More]

Simmons scores first CJ Speedway IMCA Modified win

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 9, 2023) – IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing returned to CJ Speedway on Friday night with near perfect weather conditions and a solid field of race cars were on hand to put on a great night of racing on a perfectly prepared race track in front of a nice crowd. It is always special to see a regular competitor score the first win of their racing career at the track and that was the case Friday night as Dakota Simmons, The Douds Missile, captured the win in the very tough Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. An early dust-up saw the cars of Troy Philpott and Brian Bushong retire to the pit area before one lap was completed. With the lineup reset, the race was on and the very racy track allowed plenty of action as the front runners came from deep in the field. Danny Brau led early before Tim Simpson took over the top spot for a couple of laps. The ninth starting Simmons took over the top [Read More]

Murty scores $1,000 Stock Car win at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (June 11, 2023) – Dallon Murty earned a $1,000 payday Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Murty came out on top of a multi-car battle to take top honors in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Christie Door Company. From his fourth row starting spot, Murty raced the low groove into contention and pressured Brett Vanous for the top spot in that 20-lapper.  With Vanous protecting the low groove, Murty changed lanes and attempted to challenge from the high side, which allowed a number of others to close in and battle for the lead. Damon Murty and Gage Neal were the strongest of the lot as the four drivers swapped positions and racing grooves at the front of the pack. Following a late restart, Dallon Murty made his move and then fought off pressure from Neal to seal the win. Vanous ran third ahead of Kaden Reynolds. Dallon Murty was a $1,000 winner in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action Sunday night. Justin Wacha made a popular return visit to victory lane at [Read More]

One-man tour takes Thomas to first IMCA Hobby Stock win

The leader in national and Big Daddy Race Cars Southern Region rookie points won for the first time in his IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock career, hauling from ninth in the checkered flag run at Central Arizona Raceway. The win came in his 22nd start of the season, after three straight second-place finishes and, best of all, on girlfriend Meghan Aden’s birthday. “We’re calling this my You Only Die Once, You Live Every Day Tour,” explained Thomas, who turns 58 at the end of July. “I got back into racing this year following a health scare. I told Meghan this was something I wanted to do, she said ‘Do it,’ so I did.” “I’ve always been a fender guy,” added Thomas, most recently a winner circa 2007 in the pure stock class at West Valley Speedway. “This was something I did way back when and I never got away from it. I’m really glad to be racing again.” The Arizona native [Read More]
